Root Uninstalling Unwanted stock apps

Does anyone know how to do this via adb?

I can do it with my eris, but im not sure D2 uses the same method and im afraid to brick my phone if i try.

You can remove them from the phone if you are rooted

Im rooted, im just simply uninstall them? I uninstalled the blockbuster app and it says its still there.

Well I personally don't like to uninstall. I use freeze function from titanium backup. You can also rename the apk to something like bak, that will make it unable to run

Right on, ill try that with titanium until i find a more permanent way.

Just took a risk and tried it via adb and it worked flawlessly. Ill make a post on how to do it.

and also the adb method doesn't work on most apps i just found out, says its a system read only file or something.

wont work with root explorer either unless im doing something wrong. Still says system read only file.

Someone please help with this! I have rooted and am using the terminal emulator, however the old instructions to remove various files (from the droid 1) are not accurate. I'm assuming the file names have changed, because it says the files cannot be found. I'm not too big on linux so I'm not sure how to explore a directory (good ol' cmd dir fails me).

If someone could please help with valid instructions for the droid 2 I would be very thankful. Some of my apps give me great difficulty with all this bloatware constantly eating my memory.

Skype
Browser (probably not possible/a good idea)

Also, if there any way to stop apps from auto-starting, rather than deleting them? For example, maps.

Sorry, you have to push the button "mount r/w" at the top and then you should be able to delete.

Mount R/W - then just delete the apk in the system-apps folder.

So I've got Super Manager installed, and I went into the apk manager and was still unable to un-install kindle for android/blockbuster/amazon mp3/etc. I was able to uninstall NFS shift, but not the more important ones, am I doing something wrong here?

The best method I found was to move the .apks to a folder I created on my sdcard using root explorer. That way I can move them back if needed and back up my sdcard with everything on it in case of emergencys
Once moved I have never had an issue with them reappearing. Root Explorer is an excellent app for doing all types of things on a rooted phone.

I ended up just renaming the crapware .apks to .baks and it worked wonders, phone is notice-ably snappier!
