Help why can't I add Google account in "Add account" menu?

I just got my 2nd hand Milestone. It is running official 2.1 update 1 ROM.

When I clicked "account and sync", and then add account, the page jumped directly into exchange option page, without showing me "Exchange, Facebook, Google" page, like in the following help page showed.

could you help me find out how to sync with google directly? I tried to sync with Google via exchange, but the exchange did not even give me option to sync calendar!

Try by going to GMail, Menu>Accounts>Add an account.

When I tried what you did I was able to add a google account. It never asked me what kind of account I wanted to add either though.

I added my second gmail account just using the "email" icon. I wouldn't want it to sync with another email as it would make things complicated.

Why? You can switch between GMail account in the app by going to accounts from menu, why would that complicate things? Did you uthink it will show both inboxes at the same time?

No I meant for the sync. I have different contacts in each email so I would not want it to sync back and forth to both emails. One email has so many contacts that I do not want on my phone but in the email address only. The one I sync with on my phone is a trimmed down list.

Hmm, is it not possible to turn off contact sync in google account settings on the phone? I thought it is.

Duh... forgot about that! Although I only have two gmail accounts I use regularly and no other regular email I need to view... so this works for me for now... lol but thanks for future reference!!!
