Android Developers strike back at Jobs

yeah, BURN!!!! I bet Steve Jobs goes bankrupt now

Android is now the most popular operating system among people who bought a smartphone in the past six months

lol.... I love how they pull a random timeframe that supports Android as number 1. lol

on days that smart phone users bought a new smartphone, that were cloudy, with a 72% chance of rain, a day after their spouse was hit on by a inter-racial same sex supporting person, Andriod was the most popular brand.

Android phans still showing their little brother complex in every article...pahahahahaa

"We think Android is very fragmented and becoming more fragmented by the day, and as you know, Apple strives for the integrated model so that the user isn't forced to be the systems integrator," said Jobs.

But data shows Android fragmentation, caused by the different versions of the Android operating system on devices, is on the decline.

so, in essence.... Jobs was right. Again, BURN on Jobs by the devs proving that he's actually correct.

6 months is a normal type of timeline to judge a market... the Iphone 4 was launched almost dead center of this timeline as well.

Someone from Tweetdeck responding to comments made ABOUT HIM is "Android showing little brother complex"?

I have a D2. But I love reading all the "we're as good as you, but since the statistics don't back that, let's manipulate which data we put forward" posts thinking that it somehow 'puts that evil Steve Jobs' in his place.

threads like these are the equivalent of penis envy

lol....

I don't know if you have ever ventured outside of Android Forums to read about iphone vs android.. However, outside of these forums.. People outright bash android in flamboyant display's of iphone favoritism which at this point is baseless. Android fans are growing and the os is retaliating.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying android fanboyism isn't getting bad or annoying..

However, this is an issue where jobs attacked..and a few android fans give their view on it.. and suddenly android has "penis envy" :/...

You have a very skewed view of the subject..

Its like saying if a man hits a random woman.. she kicks him in the testes. Therefore she has penis envy :/

since when did two wrongs make a right?:thinking:

funny thing was their view backed what Jobs said, and Martimus, then you, make comments that seem to think the devs 'got him' how so?

you're just reaching.... and falling way short.

you were one of the first to post a "yeah, burned you" type reply and all the article said was "steve jobs says android is fragmented..... it is, but it's not that bad"

I know ios superphans do the same thing.... I fire a buddy up.... well, not really a buddy, but my ex-wife's b/f she left me for :p, He sells iphones and when he says the Pledge of Allegiance, he replaces "under God" with "under Jobs". He's bad. But one thing I can never argue with him..... that Android is #1 in sales.... well, that is unless I qualify that with "on a cloudy day in a year that has a leapyear, during a month with 5 Fridays, after a full moon, android out sells iPhone" or some other ridiculous qualifier like they posted in the article.

I never indicated they do.

The issue is, jobs intentionally misinterpreted what they had said :/
you're just reaching.... and falling way short.

I'm not reaching for anything.. iPhone zealotry created a lot of bad blood, even before android was about, I envy nothing about the iphone.. its not my personal choice... I hate when people buy a product (like my mother) with no research or thought as to what else is out there.. but, thats a whole different debate.

you were one of the first to post a "yeah, burned you" type reply and all the article said was "steve jobs says android is fragmented..... it is, but it's not that bad"
So posting "Nice to hear from a someone with more clout" is an "oohhhh burrned" comment? that is really reaching my friend.. My comment was reflective of the fact that we can talk crap here all day long but, we aren't developers :/

If we really want to get into ridiculous qualifiers how about the fact that to use iphones, you have to have itunes :/

I'm not going back to reread the article.. but, i very clearly remember them saying there was two people working on the entire android market to get their app out.. so barring any discussion of sales, their point is still the same.. Jobs intentionally misinterpreted what THEY said..

They are remarking that jobs took THEIR words out of context, and your going to bash them when they are standing up to make sure they don't get intentionally misinterpreted?

so, in essence.... Jobs was right. Again, BURN on Jobs by the devs proving that he's actually correct.

Neither of your quotes addressed the issue that is the point. The existence of fragmentation is not the issue. The supposed hellish development environment created by the fragmentation is. These two quotes show the issue and how Jobs got told that he's wrong a little better:

We also think our developers can be more innovative if they can target a singular platform rather than 100 variants. They can put their time into innovative new features rather than testing on hundreds of different handsets

Dodsworth tweeted his company has just two developers working on the Android app. "That shows how small an issue fragmentation is," he says.

I have been waiting for the right thread to chime in about apple/android (there are so many on ANDROID FORUMS, that it is difficult to choose)

Really, Who gives a rat's ass what Steve Jobs thinks about Android? Choose the phone/OS you want and go with it. They both have their merits, Why is COMPETITION so threatening? The bad will be weeded out, the good will rise to the top. Android IS fragmented, and will get better as the hardware catches up to what it needs to be.

I only post this because it seems like every other **d Dam* thread lately is iphone vs. Android.

I do. As a matter of fact, I've got a rat around here somewhere. If you give me a minute, I'll amputate his ass for you.

It's funny you never see two mechanics arguing over whether Craftsman is going to put Snap-On out of business. ... uh ... just googled it ... I better stock up on rats.

I just posted this article because there is another in the forum that quotes what Jobs said at the Apple meeting, all this does is give an answer to his charges. I personally think that it's Jobs who is keeping the debates going because he bashes his competition any chance he gets, either through the Media or in the courts. I don't even think that money is the issue, he has more then he'll ever spend, but for him with it's an ego thing, all about his superior image!

That kind of thing tends to happen on forums ya know... Good luck finding a forum dedicated to any brand that doesn't have that. You'll always find "Android vs iPhone", "Ford vs Chevy", "Windows vs Mac"... It kind of comes with the territory when you put together a collection of people who support the same product. The only way to avoid it (mostly) is to stay out of any "lounge" or "off topic" sections.

what charge does it answer? that android is fragmented? Because all the article does is agrees with Jobs. lol

score 1 for droid...... no wait. bwahahaha

again, that shows that Droid uses MULTIPLE (ie - more than one) platforms. And the dev proves him wrong by saying there isn't 100, but rather 2? It's still multiple platforms that IOS does not do

you want to argue the fact that "big bad steve jobs said we have 100 platforms, when we only have 2"

So on top of being right, he's got whoever wrote this argument to back up his claims under the guise of proving him wrong. Classic pwnag3. Android devs back up his claim trying to disprove the exact quantity. lol

iOS does have multiple platforms, you cant argue against that, granted developing an app for say ios3 is easier to port to ios4, its still a different OS, not to mention the iPad does make things a little more complicated. neither os is perfect, both have their flaws, one of apples biggest being Stev Jobs. and the fact that a CEO of arguably the biggest company in the past 10 years is trying to bash another company in the way hes doing it is pathetic. If your going to use facts present the facts as they are dont make it do a complete 180.

the way SJ goes about things wouyld be like Chevy vs ford but Chevy present there truck as "the new 2012 Silverado now with a BAJILLION lb/ft of torque compared to fords not a bajillion!"

apparently this thread is ok to you since you mentioned iphone forums do it too. Justification for you in order to post...
Nice to hear from devs who actually have a little more clout..

I'm not reaching for anything.. iPhone zealotry created a lot of bad blood, even before android was about, I envy nothing about the iphone.. its not my personal choice... I hate when people buy a product (like my mother) with no research or thought as to what else is out there.. but, thats a whole different debate.
you are jealous of the fact that they keep flaunting their product's overall success over your product. It's like cheering for the losing college football team in your state''s rivalry.

So posting "Nice to hear from a someone with more clout" is an "oohhhh burrned" comment? that is really reaching my friend.. My comment was reflective of the fact that we can talk crap here all day long but, we aren't developers :/
maybe you better rely on someone else besides people who agree with Steve jobs, when they think they are proving him wrong.

"andriod has 100 platforms....... nuh uh, we only have 2 (damn, we just owned him by proving the underlying point of the thread, that we have more than 1 platform. high-five for us.... "

Propaganda is an effective tool, it's been proven throughout history. Twist and misrepresent the truth and use it to cash in. Jobs is an effective business man, he's intelligent, he just makes a product I don't have access to.

I also love the fact that despite everyone here swearing Droid is better, why isn't AT&T picking up a droid phone, yet all the talk is when Verizon is getting a version of Iphone.

The point is while there is fragmentation, it is not causing problems like jobs wants to believe it is.

Infact this isn't meant to be a "score one for droid" thread at all.. more like an "apple.. give us back our points you stole.. you'll get your turn at the cookie jar.. but, its ours now".

maybe you better rely on someone else besides people who agree with Steve jobs, when they think they are proving him wrong.

"andriod has 100 platforms....... nuh uh, we only have 2 (damn, we just owned him by proving the underlying point of the thread, that we have more than 1 platform. high-five for us.... "

Erm... Since steve jobs QUOTED them, I don't think their goal was to debunk the myth that there is more than one market.. I think their goal was to come out and say "yes there is more than one market but, its a non issue in the long run". They can't refute that their is more than one market seeing as they SAID it.. They would be agreeing with jobs if they said "its a nightmare to keep up with!"

Propaganda is an effective tool, it's been proven throughout history. Twist and misrepresent the truth and use it to cash in. Jobs is an effective business man, he's intelligent, he just makes a product I don't have access to.

While Jobs is incredible at marketing.. From a stand point of a computer science major.. iOS does have a few redeeming qualities.. It showed there is an audience for people who yesterday wouldn't have cared, and they need things dumbed down a bit.

There are also downsides... like people preferring and demanding training wheels on everything now. I worry about possible damage to the eletronics ecosystem.

I also love the fact that despite everyone here swearing Droid is better, why isn't AT&T picking up a droid phone, yet all the talk is when Verizon is getting a version of Iphone.

Because, they can target sheep with iphone 4. I'm not bashing every iphone 4 owner out there.. but, iphone 4 sells to people like my mom who are stupid. She has money to afford it, didn't bother to ask any questions or do any research.. She wanted to try out a smartphone and iphone 4 is the "obvious" choice. Why? It is designed to sell to people like her.. It is a flashy status symbol.

Android phones sell to people like me. I do my own research, so why spend more money trying to convince me to buy a product I already want?

And for that matter why even bother to pick up a lot of phone's I would want? I'm stuck on at&t since I'm with my family so I'm either going to take what they have, or go with a dumb phone and what does at&t care? I would actually put that data plan to use unlike my relatives.

Pfff... more like
