You're holding it wrong - a tip for using the speaker

Am I the only one that "cups" my hand behind the speaker to get better quality sound? I could swear it sounds twice as good as without.

If you haven't tried this yet, play a movie or sound file and cup your hand behind the phone in such a way that it reflects the sound back toward your face. You might be surprised. :D

I cup my hands...but to be honest, I normally have my godly earbuds in...so no real need to! I like to keep things private sometimes when I listen to music and watch movies/tv shows.

The speaker itself is pretty good. It is decently loud, good quality...on a device as thin as it is...its damn great!

I'm with you on this. I wish you could turn down the mic, sensitivity or something.

I mean, if you look at mics in general, it's not that surprising that the quality on the phones suck. From my experience, the sound quality is better than any other phone I've touched so I'm not complaining. I don't know of any phones that actually sound good when recording video and audio.

I just wish that every time I record a band, even in a small venue that isn't blaring too loudly, it wouldn't over-modulate the recording. It really sounds awful sometimes.
Just browsing though different threads here on android forums. I use to have this problem. Solution was to use a custom kernel with voodo sound. You can change the mic recording profiles and finally be able to accomplish this. :D

Just tried this; My Level 5 was already at 92, so I went to 100. Hopefully it works better in the car - In the car I really couldn't talk on the phone w/o speakerphone. We'll see...

EDIT - After making some calls - 100 just doesn't seem loud enough - Maybe if I was at 75 previously, but 100 still sounds way too quiet. I keep reading about the SpeedMod kernel and how it also drastically improves headset volume. Maybe I'll try that next.

Um. I went into the debug menu. Accidentally hit the wrong item (I think) and now I have NO sound for ringing or notification.

Can anyone tell me what the default values for Sidetone is? Right now, it's 0x0. Basically all the default values in that menu, if possible.

EDIT: Actually, let me make sure I'm in the right spot where stuff is messed up.

--Figured I was too impatient and a lost cause for figuring out myself, so I went with the factory reset. Guess I'm cool now. 2nd time in 3 weeks I have to reinstall all my apps, though. You live and you learn, eh? Haha.
