I know this was talked about before at different times but I still have 3 questions.
1. what is the difference between a task killer and a task manager?
2. should we be using one of these apps or not?
3. when you look at the awake time if it is like 70% or 80% and you aren't using the phone a bunch I take it that means something is running, how can you find what is running.and is the awake time that big of deal?

don't know if it matters but I have a Eris phone

First of all I'm relatively new to the forum and this is my first post so hi all. Second, I've done s9me playing with my phone as we all do on a regular basis. What I have found Is this; ANY & 8 mean ANY type of messaging apps you have on your phone in terms of hi yahoo, hi aim ect. will cause your awake time to soar outta control. I had the worst battery life & awake time cause I always had my hi yahoo running. After I made sure all messaging apps were shut down, my battery life sky rocketed. I can now go about 2 days on a single charge. Also running my battery down all the way before I recharge has made a big improvement. Hope this helps.

So I use 'automatic task killer' and works great. The only issue I have is that when I'm using something like google maps or pandora which I need to remain idle...when the screen turns off..automatic task killer does its job. I know theres a preference to put programs like these not to be killed.. but when I'm not using them I dont want them to be running in the background.

Any suggestions?

the best task killer/manager IMO after using quite a few of them is task panel. It has the features of some of the paid apps in a free one and has a pretty nice interface and widget as well.

I like using Task Panel as well. It's easy to use and manage the ignore list. I started by having a lot of ignored tasks (like gmail, messages, and my calwidget), but I've found that those come through and work even if they are killed. The main thing I've had to experiment with are the HTC systems, PC Sync, & clock - those have to be ignored.

So far, I'm a supporter of Task Panel.

i have advance task manger what is does is mean avaliable memory at the top is for

Right now it says 45M

i thought apps are saved on the sd cards

and what is the max memory that it should say

I wish you could save and run apps from the SD card, but unfortunately it just doesn't work that way. All apps run from the internal memory. 147MB is the max available for user storage on the Eris
