Desktop Charging Cradle Kit for use with HTC EVO 4G

I've been waiting for this but now with the powermat just recently released...which to get!?

I've been keeping an eye on the powermat and just saw the Seidio cradle. I think I'm going to go with the cradle. It looks like the powermat requires a new back coverplate that adds a little bulk/thickness (you can see in the pics that the kickstand is recessed instead of flush) and the micro-usb is used by the tab that sticks out. These pics explain it all:

The thickness and the micro-usb tab aren't worth it for the powermat. Besides, I'd rather have the cradle so the phone can double as a desktop calandar/clock. the upright position is easier to see the phone/messages/etc than if it were flat on my desk on the powermat.

The products are a Seido Battery charger and a Car mount that you can use as a desktop stand. The mount will allow you to use your EVO horizontally as well.

I got my cradle in the mail today and I really like it. My EVO fits in it like a glove (I have the Innocase Active case on mine) and it looks great on my desk. Make sure to buy the "kit" version for $5 more or you'll have to use your own charging cable. The unit is very solid and has rubber on the bottom to keep it "sticking" to the desktop well. Just so you know, the surface of it is NOT shiny as depicted in the photos, but I think it looks better. There is also a rubberized wrap-around of the sides of the base. Overall, nice job.

I actually have 2 Seidio desktop cradles for the Evo: I have the Cradle in the pictures in post #2 and I also have an Innodock Jr. I got the Innodock about a week before they started shipping the other cradle and decided to order both; one for home and one for work.

Now you need to understand that I just got my Evo today so I haven't had much time to evaluate it yet, but I've had the device in both cradles and and here's my initial impression:

The Desktop Charging Cradle looks a lot classier, but it's harder to get the phone aligned just right so it plugs in. My Evo has the Innocase Surface on it and maybe the Active will fit the cradle a little better, but it takes a little careful poking around to get my phone plugged in.

But that doesn't seem to be as much of a problem with the Innodock 'cause the plug sticks way out there and it's on a pivot. The big problem with the Innodock is the damned power light is way too bright and annoying, but a little piece of vinyl tape took care of that.

I imagine that both cradles will get easier to use as I become familiar with them so I'm going to bypass judgement and stick to just reporting my observations for now.

I got one a few days ago. It doesn't work with the full Innocase Extended Rugged Holster Combo which is the rugged setup to cover the phone with the extended battery in it but it does work with my EVO when I have the standard battery in and my Otterbox Commuter case on.

It comes with 2 small plastic pieces which sit against the back of the docking area. Each one is a different size/shape, plus they can be used together or removed completely, so there are 4 different "settings" (for lack of a better word) which add depth or width to the docking area so that the phone fits properly and doesn't stress the charging port when the phone is charging and leaning back against the dock.
