So I took back my Moment and got the Hero

HOLY COW!!! Its like night and day between those two phones. With the Moment I barely squeaked out a full day on the battery charge. I just got my Hero yesterday and fully charged it until the light turned green. I played a little bit with it installed some apps and the battery never went down. This morning I check it and its at the same spot as last night. Im sitting at 11% awake time. HUGE improvement. For those still thinking about getting the phone, stop thinking and just get it!

Just to make sure this thread isn't misleading, & not to say the HERO isn't a great phone because it is, I too was quite disappointed in the battery performance of the Moment until I found this forum & did the battery calibration thing & since, it can pretty much go all day & I am a serious heavy phone user; aside from apps, being online, emailing & texting constantly, I average 3800 mins a mth on my phone which says I talk a lot:eek:

So not to steal any thunder from ur Moment Vince (no pun intended) I just don't want people to be mislead because both of these are great tools when used & done properly.. (I've been an HTC guy since the Mogul & just as ofthis mth finally switched) :)

LOL Im in no way bashing the Moment. It was also a sweet phone. I may have had a bad battery because it always got super hot when it was charging, but alas it couldnt make it throughout the day on a charge. Otherwise, it was a great phone.

Wait, wut? LOL

Yeah sounds like a tongue twister right?

Just trying to explain the Sense UI options.

You know that you can set up multiple "Scenes" each with their own set ups for apps, widgets and 1 wallpaper.

So each Scene can have it's own wallpaper, but you cannot have a different wallpaper for each "Home Screen" (meaning each of the 7 screens you swipe to will all be required to have the same wallpaper.)

Does that make sense?

Yes, now it makes sense...I was hoping I could use different wall paper for each screen...Oh well

This battery stuff must really be hit or miss. This is my 2nd Hero. Took the other back for a different reason and they have both sucked. I'm not switching phones 'cause I like it, but I have resigned myself to aslways having to charge it. Have a charger at home, in the truck and at work. I can't get more than a little over half a day with moderate use. And I have done all the teaking I can do. Nothing is set to update automatically. Wonder if one more phone swap and I could get a real battery......

Did you do the newest update? If so, my guess would be the battery. Thats why I wasnt knocking the Moment because I have a feeling I had a bad battery.

awww... I hope you have that phone wrapped in tin foil or something, lolz... or use some sort of headset... The waves might get ya'!!!

Damn, that's a lot of minutes, closest I ever came was avg. around 2700 per and I was so tired of talking on the freakin thing... way too much, wow...

For the OP, happy trails with your HERO, lol

rolltrain, the one thing that made a difference in my batt life was to have e-mail check less often. At first I had it checking 3 accounts every 15 min, and that killed the battery by mid day with no talking at all!
Now it just checks one account every 1/2 hour and the battery lasts 24 hours or more.

I have it checking gmail once an hour. I had all my other emails routed to gmail so it only has to check the one. So, tried that too. Thanks for the advice, though.

I had the moment for a very short period and recently sold it. I can say that it is not a bad phone but had many short comings. The hero is just well thought out and Sense is just well layed out and really makes the phone shine. I know the hero is not perfect, but for my daily use, it made more sense (no pun intended). I didn't like having to find a bunch of apps to make it look like the hero. Weird as it sounds, most people get the moment and then try to get the look of the hero. That's saying a lot

I haven't made my Android purchase as of yet. I'm on Sprint and currently have the HTC Touch Pro 2 which is the best WM phone ever, but I'm a phone junkie and want to buy an Android phone very soon.
The two choices are obvious but there is one HUGE deal breaker for me. The Hero has no proximity sensor!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How stupid is that???!!! My Palm Pre has it, my Touch pro 2 has it, the Moment has it. It seems that all touchscreen phones should have this necessary feature. Why did HTC not include this on the sprint HTC Hero?
I can't deal with making accidental calls, hang ups, texts, etc because of the lacking proximity sensor on the Hero... How is everybody else dealing with this so easily???
