I prefer xtrrom, i like the froyo roms, but the cameras always glitchy and i use my camera alot.

Get Camera 360 Pro. It captures so much better picture than the preinstalled camera app. Crisp image and you can add cool color effect on it. What can you ask more?

Oh and to answer the OP's question, I use Nonsensikal version 10 with Froyo. I'm really amazed at how responsive and fast the phone is.

I originally started out with xtrSense, then xtrRom which I ran for awhile then bounced around to the various froyo rom's available. I would actually prefer a froyo rom such as CELBFroyo but the lag and overall instability just gets on my nerves. Improvements are being made all the time to these rom's but they can't keep up with xtrROM. I installed xtrROM and set my cpu back to stock and my phone just flies with no issues at all. For this reason xtrROM is my favorite. If Zach (maker of xtrROM) puts together a Froyo rom i'll probably switch to that because this dude knows how to make a ROM.

I would normally say Nonsensikal, but it appears it's future is now in question. There are definite advantages in a froyo(2.2) ROM in my opinion, I tried XTROM a while back but did not see any real advantage.

I agree with half of this. :)
Nonsensikal is a good ROM, but the developer is no longer concentrating on mods/updates to it, as he is off working on other things. However the fact that the dev is no longer working on it doesn't make it any less of a ROM, it's stable now, it will still be stable even if the dev never looks at it again. However there may come a day when other ROMs surpass it just because of 'tricks' that have been learned, at that point it may be time to consider a new ROM, if any of those 'tricks' appeal to you.

Unless you really like Sense, there is honestly no reason not to be using a 2.2-based ROM. They are pretty much perfect now (the only thing missing is Flash).

I've personally been using KaosFroyo for a few weeks now and I haven't had one single problem. In fact, it's the very first ROM I've used where everything works. All other ROMs I've tried in the past (2.1-based) have had at least one thing I didn't like about them. I'm quite impressed with this one.
