So...this is the big week that has finally come upon us (well we all hope)

So just curious...i have 2 questions

> Who thinks its gonna be bug free (or what bugs do you think there will be)

and

> Do you think you will be disappointed with it?

I don't think there will ever be a bug free OS. However I truely believe that SE's 2.1 will be better than everyone elses 2.1. If this update happens to suck and NOT be worth the wait...i will be done with SE.

i bet SE are hoping its the best 2.1 update after all the abuse they got after they announced the delay

time will tell.....

I bet your right.....Rikard will quit if they delay it again lol. SE has the potential in becoming a top of the line android manufactor but they need that development team on the ball....there hardware is top notch imo. And im not an SE fanboy but rather HTC....but I wanted to try the X10. 2.1 will determine how good they are. And i believe there future android devices will be more up to date.

I also believe this 2.1 upgrade will be better than all other 2.1 on other phones, because I believe SE want to make up for the delays etc.

Also I don't think it will be bug free, as it is very rare that an OS is 100% bug free.

I think I will love the upgrade, but one thing I do not like (from the demo videos) is the app drawer. It has to be opened by pressing it instead of sliding it up, and I very much prefer the slide up drawer, which is why I do not use any 3rd party home apps

Is there a way to have the default slide up draw with ADW?

Tried launcher pro and left it... Really was not all that :D

But with 2.1 coming I am going to get my X10 sorted so I can update just to see what it is like and you do have to give something to SE as they made 1.6 almost identical to 2.1.

Still I really do like my rooted 1.6 that does everything I want but the battery life sucks compared to other phones on 2.1 so that is what I'm really hoping for with 2.1 on the X10.

But will still get belittled with all my Desire owning mates on 2.2 but hey as long as my battery last as long I dont care as they do bow to the fact the X10 has a "better sound quality" and better "camcorder" and given the carp screen res all say that downloaded videos look better on the X10.

home screen . bottom left select button > ADW Settings > Drawer Settings > HORIZONTAL Drawer (Check the box). That is the one that comes standard on the X10..

When 2.1 comes, I will be using Launcher Pro, since I bought it back when I had the Captivate. Boy if I knew then what I know now.......

The horizontal sliding draw is not the default for the X10 but is the default for Samsung and I have it set up to scroll how it would on the X10 as I hate the side scrolling draw. Also what am I missing with Launcher Pro?

I installed it last week and went back to ADW within the hour as I thought it was pants!

i would hope to say i am gonna be impressed with 2.1 but with everything thats happened with the x10 and my past experiences with SE phones......i think its not gonna go smoothly!!

lets hope i am very wrong!

We're all hoping you're wrong lol

I think SE will have made 2.1 better than 2.1 on other handsets, as they may want to make up for previous "mistakes" :)

I believe this update will totally suck ... here is why:

it's a half assed update, no 16million colors for one, not multi touch even when they said 3rd party apps can make MT possible, why can't they? it will have bugs for sure

why?

simple, economics! SE is trying to perfect their own code like timespace and the other crap so the 2.1 is only to see if the code is fast enough on the current hardware, it won't be because with 16mil colors it will be a dog running on 3 legs, fat one at that.

what they will do is release it just before the new Xperia comes out with probably full 2.1 or 2.2, this will do two things ... will give users a taste of SE being quick to put software out and will cover them to some respect that hey we gave you 2.1 but the hardware is slow so buy the new Xperia and be happy

to them is a win win, they waited so long for 2.1 until new hardware will be out making it easy to wipe their ass with the X10 users, you want full 2.1 or 2.2 buy the new hardware! the X10 hardware has limitations they say specially for MT but hell the screen used in the X10 supports it, 3rd party apps can make it work

we will not see the X10 with 2.1 until they are almost ready to put out the new Xperia and with the "kits" all that means is that pending where the new X10 will be released has a lot to do where the 2.1 kits get released

the x10 = Satia no questions or dobuts about it, probably after the new Xperia they will start working on things but until they get their timespace and mediascape perfected SE will lie and delay things, it's the only thing they have to compete with SENSE and it's where the development goes, not on making froyo run on their handsets
