Root Strange thing happening

I'm rooted and running Virus Rom RC3 with 4.1.8 CFS kernel, Great combo!! 2 days ago my phone started chiming like a Grandfather clock every hour on the hour, the tone is not even in the phone that I can find!! WTF is happening, I can't find what is doing this and why!! It is driving me crazy. I have checked the settings in every app that I have down loaded with no explaination to this. Help, Please!! suggestions????

Do you have SetCPU installed? Your battery temp. may have exceeded 40deg. What does the notification bar say?

Yes, I have Set CPU installed and there is no notification what so ever in the notification bar when this happens.

Yep, still does it when in silent mode!

Does it sound like some type of old house phone ring, like a "WAWAWAWAWA" I guess that doesn't make much sense but I don't know how else to describe it. That is a default tone in the Android system when the selected ringtone isn't available for whatever reason. I don't know why you would be getting it repeatedly though, do you have any alarms set?

No, It sounds just like Church bells, every hour on the hour!! It's driving me f'ing nuts!!! It's on both speakers, when I'm talking on the phone it will come through the ear piece and the external speaker when the phone is just sitting there. I am trying to avoid recovery, my phone is right where I wanted it before the hourly reminder!!

Well at this point it looks like you have 2 options unfortunately... either live with it or restore an older nand and start from scratch. Bummer you cant get it figured out! Keep us posted if you do figure it out!

I'm having trouble understanding what could really cause that, but wrapkgb is right, the only real option to do in this case is restore, or maybe just delete all your apps and reinstall??

I have not installed any new apps in the last couple days which is how long this chime has been going on I am also wondering why I get the green star and plus sign in my notification bar all the time I get enough spam in my E mail no itt seems to come straight to my phone. This is not the same droid I used to love. Help!!!!

I have a 3rd party alarm that has an option to chime every hour on the hour, maybe you got something like that?

yep... I would say check out ur alarms very closely... there must b a setting in there for it somewhere...

Check your apps, I've had similar situations and found that an app I had installed had some addware that I wasn't aware of. I've gotten pop up adds on my xoom from several apps as well.
