Just want to mention how impressed I am with my newly acquired Droid X. Got 3 of them for me, the wife and her sister after having quite a few problems with our Incredibles. Took some heat in the Inc forums for talking about switching to the X but glad I did. I was most worried about the recent issues with 2.2, battery life with the big screen and getting used to the large size.

Well, I'm happy to report that the phones work great!

The battery life is amazing. The last couple days I've gotten 20+ hours on 1 charge with the stock battery. The best thing is that I'm using it how I want and don't have to worry about turning off syncing, not using apps, etc. like I used to have to do just to get through a work day. It's shocking to go home after using your phone all day and still have half battery left. I'm certainly no power user but I use my phone quite a bit through the day.

After about 3 days of use, I wasn't concerned about the size at all. The big screen is so nice to look at I understand why a lot of people now prefer a 4+ inch screen...it's like a mini tablet. And I like the solid feel of the phone.

Call quality and signal is also improved. The only issue I've encountered is the FC on battery manager intermittently and it's been documented by Moto with the other Froyo problems. I got pretty tired of limiting my use all the time before so my phone wouldn't die and all the excuses people brought up...Android does so much, it's so powerful it shouldn't last all day, etc LOL. This phone really brought back my confidence in using a smart phone for what it's built for.

I think Inc users were X Apple fanboys ;). Jk.

Glad you like it. Most of us are happy X users. Of course a lot of posts you will read are problems but I feel they are few and far between. Great phone.

I almost held out for the Fascinate. Glad I didn't.

Check out the Tips section. Lots of good stuff in there.

Besides the battery issue, what were the problems you experienced with you Dinc's? If the FC's on the battery manager annoy you try getting an app on the marker called 'Mini Info'. When you open it you'll see a bunch of information, tap on the battery meter at the top, then tap on 'Usage'... this shows the same thing the stock battery manager shows you. And I've never had it FC on me.

More than I could handle after a few months. The main things for me was the really poor battery life, random reboots and lack of things working with the Sense UI. Like I said, I took a lot of heat for questioning the Inc really being that great. All the specs and reviews make it sound like the best phone out there, and I really thought it was in the beginning. After a while, I had to be realistic and just couldn't justify defending it any longer. In real life, even after many factory resets and replacements, I just couldn't depend on the phone to work right enough of the time and I was through. Check this thread out, it goes through a lot of it. Be warned, a couple of these guys really love their phones lol... but I appreciate their passion.

It irritates me how people are harassing each other over which phone suits them. I guess it's just geek elitism. I've been given static for using that term, but hey, it's what it is. Crazy, I think may describe it. I had an Eris, and at times I'd want to use it as a hockey puck, but I didn't call any OG Droid owners at the time and rag on them. You find the system that suits you, and live with it. Make yourself happy end of story.

Yes unfortunately if you question the X in this forum (as many have) you will get similar treatment. It's very immature, but it sort of comes with the territory I suppose. Heck even I take offense to some criticism when it's thrown out in a derogatory, insulting, and in no way constructive sort of way. There is a way to complain (see CRBoones beef with his X for instance) that can be constructive and informative. Of course there are those who have not had the same good experience with their phone (be it a DX, Dinc, EVO, Eris, NEXUS 1, etc...) that I have had with mine, that's a given with technology. Every OEM puts out their fair share of duds that end up in the hands of some unlucky individuals. You seem to have been in that boat with your Incredible.

And then there are those who might have a perfectly good working device, but they still don't jive with it for what ever reason. Picking up another device and trying it out is completely up to the individual. Why other people with the same phone feel the need to unleash insults upon someone who chooses to do so is beyond me. I hope you find your experience with the X to be more pleasant than your experience with the Dinc. If it isn't however, it certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings even if you hopped over to an iPhone or WinMobile device. Why would it?

I must say though that I'd never really heard anyone complain about HTC's Sense UI before. I had thought it to be the best implementation of an OEM's UI out of all the options out there. So that is a new one by me. You'll hear plenty of complaints about Blur on this board, many people try to get as much off of the phone as they possibly can. If you're into rooting and all that, you can try out the different ROMs that have been de-Blur'ed as well.

Cheers. :)

I've heard people complain about sense, it usually seems to come from dyed in the wool stock android fans who want as little bloat on the phone as possible. I've heard very little complaints about the stability or functionality in sense. HTC has been working on it for years (starting on WM) and they are ahead of the other phone mfr's. I'm jealous of sense but the nice thing about andriod is that I've found replacements for all of the sense UI features I want (mostly by using LPP).

Yeah, I actually really love the way Sense is setup, just had some weird issues with functionality but hopefully that will eventually be worked out. Specifically with calling widgets that didn't work. I was a huge HTC fan before, great experience with my G1. I still like HTC just frustrated with my experience with that phone. Oh well, that's over and I've moved on. I know a lot of people don't care for Blur but I don't find it too bad on the X. It's not as pretty as Sense for sure but it should get better with time:)

Hey guys...still really like the phone! But, I'm having some issues that have been popping up over the last couple days. My wife's phone is kinda starting to drive her crazy. It's becoming completely unresponsive a couple times a day. Not just the lock screen delay, but the touch screen won't do anything. I thought it was just her at first, but I played with it over the weekend and it is happening a couple times a day for no apparent reason. Only fix is a battery pull.

After a couple of weeks, I am starting to have some of the issues others have noticed with my phone too. Not a huge deal, just little annoyances. It does kick out of 3g a lot, sometimes videos won't load in YouTube, I can't connect to wi-fi randomly and I've had mine also become unresponsive but much less than hers (like 2 times in a week). Last night, I kept trying to take pictures and I couldn't get it to load the camera, so I power cycled it. It then worked, took a couple pics, but they didn't show up in the Gallery? We were also having the issue where you call and connect but can't hear anything but *22899 fixed that like a charm and haven't noticed any issues since!

I am glad that Moto has addressed that they're working on these issues and hopefully they'll be fixed soon enough. Is a factory reset the only option right now or have you guys had any luck fixing any of these things some other way? I can deal with the little stuff on my phone if I have to but I need get my wife's phone from being unresponsive so often. Thanks!

Just jumped ship from a ten year stint on T-Mo to Verizon. Went from a G1 to the DX. Can't say enough good things about Verizon service and the DX. The DX is everything an Android phone should be. Only have a one year contract and I'm eligible for a phone upgrade next September. By that time the dual cores should have had their shakedown if I decide to trade in my DX.
