Help tips to speed up lag?

Did a quick search, but nothing showed up that I wasn't aware of. 2.2 lagged my phone in a big way. Actually almost bricked it at first, but managed to do a factory reset, then reformatted the sd and it helped, but it is still laggy. The more I put on my sd, the slower it gets. I am currently backing up my sd and going to reformat again and see if it helps. Any other suggestions?

Root and overclock.

2.2, at least how Verizon and Motorola released it, isn't a good fit for the Droid; however, it's plenty fast with a custom ROM and a comfortable overclock of 800MHz.

I don't think anyone could even make the argument that the OTA 2.2 is in anyway better or more stable than what is out on custom ROMs.The process has never been simpler, and there is a ton of information in the Root subforum.

If you don't want to Root, then it really limits your options.

I was going to suggest the same thing. I can't tell you how much of an improvement in both battery life and performance I saw when I jumped from stock Froyo to Bugless Beast .5. I kept the same kernel, which tells me where the problem was (hint hint) and the flexibility built into the OS let me ditch SetCPU. In addition to that, there's other benefits such as being able to delete crapware.
