Root Getting Rid of Lock Screen

Is there a way to get rid of the swipe down lock screen but keep like a number password so then all i have to do is hit the power button and then type in my password then it goes to home

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can use Root Explorer to go to:

system/app and then delete HtcLockScreen.apk

You could also remove it via adb, but I'm not very familiar with it myself to tell you how to do it.

i do have root explorer and when i did that nothing happen, could i possibly have to reboot for it to take effect

let me know if that works out for you, i wonder if i could delete it all together and just use the power button to lock/unlock it?

This removes HTC's Sense lock screen, but it will be replaced with the AOSP (vanilla) lock screen.

I have nolock and it is all or nothing. It will not remove the swipe and leave the code input. I played around with it yesterday when this thread started including freezing the htc lock app.

ya it did nothin for me and yes i deleted htclockscreen.apk file and well now im ****ed with the vanilla one which is nice but when i wanna turn off my phone alarm it doesnt work because i cant swipe down

which is my new problem how the **** do i get the original lock screen from sense back on so that i can do that because not being able to turn ur alarm off at 645 am when you dont have to work sucks a**

this particular preference was the subject of great debate when the Evo launched. Tons of people using a lock pattern didn't like having to then slide as well.

Unfortunately even then, after two months of scrutiny was any resolution reached. Sorry to say, but it's all or nothing sir.

Here is the apk I extracted from a Baked Snacks Rom I have:

FYI, if you have a ROM .zip laying around, especially a stock one, make a copy of the zip, extract the copied zip (make a copy because if you extract the original and re-zip it, it will never flash correctly again) and look in the system/app folder and you will see all the main app .apk files. It's good to have those around in case you screw something up you can always push the original .apk and be back where you were.

I always post the google search (and have done so like 10 times in the last month)...as people keep moving the file

I hit 5 dead download links when originally looking for the file for my own use.

Leave those there in your drop box! lol

this guy is working on a way to do this. so far he has made zips to completely disable the both the htc and android lockscreens...but as of right now it doesn't give you the pattern unlock

A. this is why you back up, just saying.

B. if you want to keep the vanilla lock screen (in my case) install the vanilla clock and use that app for setting alarms.

I prefer the google one because its cleaner and has the ability to set the phone to silent without unlocking.
