Root Evo Update

I hardly think that you could call this an official update. Has it been sent ota?...no. Is it even mentioned on Sprint.com?.....no. This could only mean one thing..... this is not official.

I believe this is a yet to be released official update. The past few updates have been released ahead of time by the same poster on XDA and have all turned out to be legit, so I see no reason not to believe this one, unless you just want to be skeptical :)

Skepticism

i don't think it's wrong or right for you to wait...however those of us that are rooted will not do an over the air update as it would most likely kill root, and could quite possibly prevent further attempts at root. we have a proven, trusted source for these updates, and turn to that source whenever there is a rumor of update....and thus why this was moved to the all things root subforum.

while we are happy for you and the fact that you are comfortable running an over the air update when available...those of us that are rooted are not willing to take that risk of loosing root

and, if you are rooted, you are obviously the type who doesnt really give a damn about getting OTA updates quickly..I mean, almost every custom ROM out there is better than the stock one that comes with the phone, so whats the rush to get more "stock" stuff from HTC?

i am not sure of what your question is...or who it is directed towards...but there is the "camera enhancements" that have me intrigued... but I'm not willing to be a guinea pig... I will see what others post about the enhancements :D

after rereading i see that i think it was just a statement lol

Nope... not rooted. I was, but once i rooted my battery life completely tanked, so I un rooted. When I had my moment I rooted it, and it was great for a couple of weeks, then it got to the point where is was pretty much unusable. I am now of the opinion that rooting is mostly useless, and maybe these phones dont need to be jacked with.

You sound extremely bitter over one bad experience and you are in the minority.

Agreed... your experience was definitely not the norm. Sounds like you had a kernel that didn't agree with your phone or something else amiss. Anyway, to each their own.
