What to do with my Hero...?

Ok, I think my Hero is on it's way out. It has decided to randomly shut itself off when it feels like it. I almost made my son late for school today because the alarm didn't go off because apparently the phone was off. It's done this a few times now. So my dilemma is... I'm due for an upgrade on Monday, thing is I don't care for any of the phones out right now. I don't really want to waste and upgrade on a phone I don't really want. I can get a new Hero with insurance for $100 but how many can you get a year cuz I don't really want to use it if it's my last one? I could stick it out or switch back to my berry until something good comes out but I think we would've heard about it by now. I really think I would suck up the $10 a month and get the EVO but it's just so damn big! Help!

I reacted the same way to the Evo size when I got it. I used it for a couple of weeks and then picked up my wife's Hero and realized that I loved the Evo size. I had to go put my glasses on to use hers. Not regretting the Evo at all.

I'm still not sure. I'll have to go to a Sprint store and try one out. I had a Blackjack II and I thought that was massive! And I didn't have to type on a virtual keyboard.

If your hero is giving you problems you can always go root and custom rom method. Will run just as fast, if not faster than the evo.

That's just 100% silly. It will likely run better and faster than a stock phone, but please don't insult the Evo. They are world's apart.

Negative, and no it will not... Rooting is not the solution. I wish people will stop saying that rooting will solve all your phones problems. Rooting will give your phone additional functions that are not available in stock form, period. And in some ROMS will give you the option to overclock you processor, giving you a slight bump in speed.

Faster than the EVO with root... LOL

My suggestion is stick it out with the HERO until SPRINT decides to release something decent besides the EVO or that other 4G phone from Samsung. Im in the same boat has you...

Thanks guys. FYI, my Hero IS rooted.

I think I'm going to try an stick it out with my Hero and wait and see how the Knight/Speedy looks. I'm defiantly more interested in that then the EVO. Looks like no $10 more a month either! Just hope I can sit on my upgrade for 2 months. Eeek!

I have a Hero. Sucks. I played with an Incredible, awesome, and the processor is just as powerful as the EVO. Boom. Tough actin' Ticactin.

But, wait, the Incredible is not on Sprint.

I say tough it out until Christmas. Any new phones coming then?

I'd love the Incredible but yeah...Verizon! I'm off to the Sprint store to play with some phones.

Went to the Sprint store with live phones and found out what I DON'T want...none of them. But of course the EVO was dead so I couldn't play with that. It's just looks so big I don't know if I could get used to it. I do have to say that while the Epic isn't for me the screen is AMAZING.

Well here are my suggestions, if none of the phones appeal to you and you are having issues with your Hero, I would not get another one for $100 bucks, you could probably find one used cheaper, but I said the same thing about the EVO that you mention, and now my buddy bought one which I finally convinced him to switch to from his BB which he did not want to part with, and I must say, after the past couple of weeks I find myself wanting the Evo now, as I keep playing with his and love it. Now if you still not sure you can buy the EVO and take it back with the buyers remorse but they might charge you a $35 restocking fee and will also cost you your upgrade I believe. If you are still uncertain and are having that many issues now, and you still have an old BB, activate your BB back until you find something you like better at least you will have a phone that is working for now. Might end up costing me a couple bucks but at least I would keep my upgrade date at Nov instead of Jan. My bday is next week so that's what I usually get myself for my bday.
