So i really like a lot of the new "blurless" roms, however i really miss the corporate email aspect of blur. IMHO the blur email app is significantly better than the AOSP. Does anyone know how i could be able to add this back to the "blurless" roms. I have the deodexed apk archive that i got from somehwere, i've tried just installing the apk's that i feel would be required, i.e. blurservices, bluremail, etc. but i always get an "application not installed" error. i've even placed them in the /system/app folder and corrected the permissions with no success. Does anyone have any experience in adding blur back to your phone that might be able to help me out?

Thanks,

You should post this in the Root section under the rom you're using. It all depends on what rom you're running.

Personally, I've tried a couple and they don't do anything to me and don't seem any better/faster than what I'm already running. I'll settle for a theme, thanks.

This was meant as more of a general question not ROM specific, my example was for corporate email but this could be for anything, like the alarm clock.

The apps won't install until you reboot the phone, pressing install will not work.

There are definitely some blur items that won't work without their dependencies. Mynet.apk is one, and I suppose Corporate Email might be another. As for getting it working...it's probably something that will have to be looked into by one of the devs. I don't think it's just a matter of putting it in the right place with the right permissions.

Thanks,

I found that out of all the roms I've tried the only one I could add back blur email properly was to Fab's ApeX rom. Even this took some research. This is the post where I found the solution:

Blur Email/Calendar to blurless ROMs - Page 2 - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

Post #14, quoted below:

"Finally, something I can help with! I got my corporate email working by doing the following on the APEX release. This will NOT work with RUBIX since it has less blue base.
To Reinstall blur stuff back to a blurless rom, use Root Explorer (buy it of you don't have it, worht every cent!), or ADP to do the following:
you need two files (available on the removedapps.zip Fabolos supplied):
1) BlurEmail.apk
2) BlurEmailEngine.apk

Then, as per a previous post, follow these directions for both of these files:

--Remount /system to ReadWrite (in Root Explorer, that's done by navigating to the /system directory, and tapping the "Mount RW" button at the top).
--Copy the files to /system/app
--Change the permissions of the files to match the other files in /system/app (In Root explorer, long press on the file, select permissions, and make it user: Read and Write, Group: Read, and Other: Read.
--mount Read Only again (button at top of Root Explorer "mount RO"
--reboot.

Note that you will then have full email and calender, but no Moto message or calendar widget (no biggee). Any other calander widget WILL work though! I use the Launcherpro since i have the full version.

Enjoy! Love the APEX! "

Credit goes to Golden Greg from droidforums.net. This worked perfectly for me. I hope it does for you as well.
