Some of you may have seen me snooping around here asking Droid related questions but alas, I was a farce, a droider without a droid, a pinnochio resorting to forums because I was ashamed of my nose....until TODAY!

Droid is awesome so far, VZW reps/techs not so much but its working as advertised so cant complain.

Now my first few questions:

1) USB problem fixed. Thanks for the help!

2) This goes out to every individual who posts a reply: What your are top 3 Android Market apps (and please list price if you can)

3) Do you have any advice for me that you learned from your Droid experiences? I'm a droid virgin and was hoping to learn from the great masters present on this board. Basically, What would you have done different during your first 24 hours with your droid?

4) Are there any AWESOME tips/tricks I should know as a droid virgin?

Your thoughts greatly appreciated. Now excuse me while I climb to the roof of my house and scream in ecstatic joy about my droid. :D

Now my first few questions:

1) My droid gets recognized by my computer when I plug it in thru USB but when I click on my Removable disk drive it asks me to insert the drive o_O anyone know how to solve this problem?

Did you see the usb connection thing in your notification bar? You have to drag that bar down, click on the usb connection and tell it to mount the card. Then you will be able to click on it in my computer.

My top apps:
K9 mail
Apps Organizer
Sportstap

They are all free.

Apps : Google Goggles, Sportstap, Torchlight (It has saved my butt a few times already)
More Apps I really like : Snaptell, Barcode Scanner, Shazam, Pandora, Google Sky Maps, Where's My Droid, Weatherbug

All Free

Upcoming Apps I'm looking forward to :
Iheartradio (for clearchannel music stations streaming, like Fox Sports, KFI)
Slingplayer (So I can watch my Slingbox on my Droid)

Tips : Press and hold anywhere on the screen and make a shortcut for frequently called numbers
I know this is obvious but : How-to and Tips - Android Forums

**EDIT** Enjoy your phone, I love mine. If you get discouraged about feature, don't give up!

I'm a droid newb too but I'm quickly learning that Android OS kicks Winmo's arse. :) I'm not sure if you are a Winmo escapee but you will definitely want to get Advanced Task killer (free app) because the urge to close running programs is in our blood. haha. Also, Pandora is my favorite app so far. That's another free app.

I had a winmo5 phone way back but I had to put it down and turn to conventional phones, though I did remember having teh task killer app on there. However, I've read task killer is obselete on android OS and jus battery killers so im guna see how it works without....though i did go in settings and had a huuuge itch to kill some apps :p

My advice is to take it slow and learn what the phone is already able to do out of the box. I mean google maps has so much it can do and you won't know it till you spend time playing with it. Learn the sites that let you look at apps online with the pc. I find it easier and with Barcode scanner you can get dirrect links to the site using the QR codes.

Apps I like are

places directory-tells/shows you places near you fast
talk to me-translates to other languages
steamy window-its just cool but no real use
barcode scanner-for reading those QR codes(black scribbly boxes) to find apps fast
aldiko-e-reader

And get something to change you icons. I like Bettercut(don't like UI but it does what I need) but there are others out there.

Great thread.

I've mentioned before that my jail-term with Sprint is over at the end of December and will be picking up a Motorola Droid that day. I'm looking forward to playing, oops, I meant "working" :D with my new phone. I enjoy this forum and the ideas I'm picking up from those of you that already have one.

One question:

I read somewhere that there will be another "upgrade" in January. Anybody know about this?

Oh a fellow Sprint escapee! Well I'm technically not out yet since I still have my Sprint line open until the end of the month.

Anyways, Yup that's the rumor. I read that in Phonearena. They didn't provide details though.

I almost forgot one more app that I love. The Dolphin Browser is a better than the native browser (IMO). It adds multi-touch.

I read the comment reviews and people say the Dolphin browser is laggy and slow. Did you get that impression?

p.s. thanks for the awesome app tips. I got most if not all and they're really top notch stuff!
