Just picked my wife up a new Ally yesterday, and it came with software version VS740ZV8. Mine recieved the OTA update a few weeks back to the VS740ZVB version. I noticed that her phone does NOT have the City ID and other Verizon bloatware that mine did after the ZVB update. Is this a version that was right before the OTA update? I did notice that is has MUCH more memory free, and seems to be really responsive compared to the way mine was when I first got it. I'm gonna give it a week or two before I root it and flash the new JIT kernel on it incase there are any problems, but wonder if I should allow an OTA update before then and remove the offensive software if this is indeed the version that was before the ZVB update.

Yes this is the version that was before ZVB. If u give it a little time it should be pushed the update. If your arents going to flash any ROMs to get rid of the annoying plethora of apps then your gonna be stuck with all that used memory. I think there are advantages to the new update, yes but more memory on the old update seems like a better choice. I'm still running ZV8 and have no real problems but I am also running velocity, turnbo4, and drellisdee's new kernel.

Has anybody else noticed that after the ZVB update hit that the Verizon splash Logo lost its sound except for very rare occasions.

Not that I mind. I really hated it when I rebooted especially if your in some place you want to be quiet.

Funny side story.... My phone has gone off in church 3 times and said DROID!!!

The preacher has on more than once made fun of me in his sermons for this. LOL

Gotta remember silent function is your friend.

Hahaha i have the same ringtone and i thought it was on silent but went off in class yesterday and the professor just repeated what it said and kept lecturing. lol

I found that if you cover the speaker on the back with ur finger or something for that verizon splash sound it keeps it pretty darn quiet.
