Help is my x10 defected?

i am abit of a noob to all this thread stuff so please be patient. i bought a pair of ear phones which are not sony ericsson brand and when i tried them in me x10 the sound quality was poor i had to keep the on/off button pressed down constantly to make it better quality sound. could this be the phone or the ear phones? and also i know allot of this questions get asked but when is 2.1 update coming for 3 network? thank you

Could be either or both. Try another pair and see what it sounds like, and have a read of this - Which earphones would you recommend for the X10

Don't know don't care and sick of hearing about it tbh, but you could phone 3 and ask. When it comes it comes.
