Favorite App so far.... Developers please see link to Announcements above.

angry birds has to be my favorite game haha, its so adicting, expecially now that the full versions out!

Although Ultimath is my own application, i absolutely love it, it was an app created to meet my needs in math, and is being added as i do my math homework ;) although in pre-calc, so far there isn't to much I can add and it be useful, or stable. and before I get flamed with "omg you're only in pre-calc" yes, I'm a Junior in Highschool.. not college haha. Check it out! its great for all things math

Another vote for Compass. It's not necessarily my favorite app or the one I'd use the most often, but it's cool -- especially for someone like me who has NO sense of direction!

(All free apps..)

.. Until I found ZP Compass -Astronomical compass, whoa! Very cool !!
Includes Sun/Moon Rise/Set, Twilight times & Moon phase calendar..

Pips - Handy reminder beep at top of the hour, configurable tones and times..

Mobile Signal Wiget - (1x1 Widget) More accurate bars than built in one.

Quick Settings - Better than Power Control Widget.

Wikidroid - Wikipedia search engine, like the featured article of the day.

Weather Bug (Small Widget) Puts outside air temp on Notification bar..

Better Lines - Quick glance at major sports betting lines, fast ..

Date Status Bar - Puts Day/Date on Notification Bar

Retro Clock Widget - Classic mechanical flipping style clock.

Volume Locker - Prevents accidental volume control changes in pocket.

Tiki Towers - Game - Help the crazy cute monkys get home..
(Note: Tiki Towers is now free from dev here) -Full Game

Paper Toss - Game - The ultimate classic time waster ..

My favorite new app is LiveProfile, it's in beta right now, it is the cross platform bbm for all phones, and since I just got the droid x and gave in my blackberry it is amazing. If you want to check it out and sign up for an invite go to LiveProfile

This app is awesome! It's available on the market for one and all now, but still very beta so some of the features are disabled. But when this program is running full out, it will be outstanding.

I'd say my favourite by far is Memento. A very versatile and customisable database app. I've been using it more and more lately for tasks, ideas, diary, you name it. And the developer is superresponsive.

Runners up are: Tasker! And Gensoid ofcourse, for old times sake. And Tweetdeck! Exactly what I needed for my online life.

Mine has to be EchoLink. If you are a lisenced amateur radio operator, you will appreciate just how cool it is. You must hold a valid FCC lisence, though.

Tonight, I talked to people all over the country (and outside the U.S. of A) through EchoLink.

Forget the walkie talkie features, EchoLinkRules!

I believe I posted earlier, but I have decided that of my installed programs (way too many :p) Tasker is my favorite.

It allows so much capability, albeit with some learning curve for the tool.

From the link above:

Total Automation, from settings to SMS. ADC2 finalist!

* Triggers: App, Time, Day, Location, Widget, Timer, 50+ Events
* Actions: 160+ builtin, any Locale-compatible setting plugin
* Tasks: loops, variables, conditions

After using Handcent SMS as compared to the default sms on my Eris, I decided to stick with the default messaging and download SMS Popup, which adds the feature of your texts popping up in a bubble over whatever your doing which Handcent does by default.

My reasoning is really because Handcent seems to be a lot slower than the default SMS app, although the look is a little better, your not losing too much aesthetic value while maintaining the smooth sense ui feel.

My favorites so far:

*Must Haves*
-Lookout (Previously Flexilis)
-Advanced Task Killer (MUST HAVE)
-Quick Uninstall (Doesn't show cookies, just apps)
-Astro (File Manager)

*Extremely Useful None-the-less*
-Aldiko (free books :D)
-i Music (free mp3s)
-Ringdroid (create your own ringtones from your mp3s)
-EVERYTHING GOOGLE!
-Androzip
-SMS Popup
-Dolphin Browser (tabbed browsing)
-PicSay

My favorite app is the phone app from a design concept by Alexender Grahm Bell. By simply pressing 10 common numerals, you can communicate all over the city; or perhaps out of your home city, even. It comes with a handy talk feature which allows you to speak with other people, and a listen feature that allows you to actually hear what people are saying.

Coolest app so far.

Updating my personal favs are:

Angry Birds - I just installed it a few days ago and it is very addicting! Great graphics and physics.

Launcher Pro (paid version) - When I figured it out (duh) and set it up, its become my favorite Home launcher. When I decided to do without the live wallpaper, everything became more snappy and peformance was much better. I am looking to try out and install ADW just because but right now LP is outstanding.

I have only had my Droid X for a few weeks so still have a lot more apps to explore. So far though, the non-game apps that I use most often are Audible and DC Metro Transit Info.

Audible allows one to access and listen the audio books purchased from one's Audible account. It has good rewind and fast forward controls. The only thing I don't like is that the elapsed playing time and time to the end is for the entire book, rather than the chapter. It would be nice to know how far one is in the current chapter. Also, you can't go online and purchase books with this app.

The DC Metro app is of course only useful if you use the Metro transit system in DC. It tells you when the next train is coming, and is generally as accurate, if not more accurate, than the station signs, which one can't always see from all parts of the platform.

My favorite built-in app is Swype. I think it's quite amazing. I don't know how it can tell what I am trying to type!

I have so many. I had to see what I actually used most in a day.

1. Tasker - Right now I have tasker turning off all my volumes during my sleep times during the week. Any of my favorite contacts will still ring the phone, otherwise not a peep. It will also text me the phone's location when I text the phone a certain set of numbers. Love Tasker.

2. SetCPU - Every good rooter should have this app.

3. Kindle - I read, what can I say

4. Angry Birds - I only need 2 more golden eggs.

5. VideoCam Free - I take a lot of video instead of pictures. This app opens the video recorder instead of the camera app.

In interest of full disclosure, I wrote #5. I needed an app for that and couldnt find one.

My $0.02 on task killers: generally not needed. However, if you own an older or lower end android phone knock yourself out. Just remember that it is an app and occupies memory like any other app.
