There two important Opera updates.
First, according to an <a href="http://www.opera.com/press/releases/2009/12/10_1/">Opera</a> press release, their mobile browser is out and about. However, only OEM distributors have a copy.

Opera states the, "UI framework allows operators and OEMs to implement the same user experience quickly and cost-effectively across their entire range of handsets."

Opera is one of the best mobile internet browsers and is available in most mobile platforms.

Unfortunately, the press release makes no mention of a release date.

Currently, there's is an Opera Mini version on the market for those interested. However, Opera Mini 4 is about to get upgraded to Opera Mini 5 soon.

Here is a video explaining some of the bells and whistles.

It won't work because Opera Mini 5 is not compatible with Android yet. We need an .apk file not the Jave .jar files {which are used on other phones}.

So basically were gonna have to wait for opera to release it for Android

Thanks for the quick reply. I saw that it was a .jar file and it gave me an option to install with Java so I thought it would work, but no such luck!

Hopefully it won't be long before the Android version is ready.
Cheers

I have it running on my Hero. Maybe its because i have the Java app on my rom, but just download if from the website from your phone and it installed as a Java app. open the Java app and it will be in there.

Its blistering fast, but pages don't always format right, Java in browser doesn't really work, it has its own keyboard, doesn't rotate the screen properly in landscape mode, list goes on. Now if I had that speed in Hero's web browser I'd be a happy bunny.

Opera is an awesome browser, even for PCs. They incorporate and synchronize pretty well.
If you guys haven't you should check out all of the perks the desktop browser has.

Been using Opera from as far back as the Amiga, that's late 90's. Its only been in the last month or so they I've moved over to using Chrome more. A lot of the features we regularly see in web browsers now, first saw the light of day on opera. I use to go mad with tabs, would have like 50 open and it still wouldn't crash, have 5 open on IE and blue screen of death.

Also had it on my Nokia and WinMo.
