This would be cool for XDA to get up and running, assuming they're right that the hardware is there. I'd love to be able to listen to the audio for sportscenter while at the gym (you know how they have TV's set up, and to listen you tune in to a station). I was actually thinking of setting up a cheap, small PC somewhere and just plugging it in that receives the FM signal and puts it out over wifi so no internet connection is needed, then I could stream it or whatever. Not gonna happen though, I'm sure :)

Will keep playing with it.

There is also their paid version

The one situation where having an actual FM tuner would be better than streaming radio is in an emergency situation where potentially the cell networks are down or compromised - the exact situation where you would NEED radio. So while not having a tuner chip might not matter to the average day-to-day, I'd still call it a fail from the perspective that it wouldn't have taken anything special to add it in there, and it would mean the world in that rare emergency.

Have you found an app that will do this yet, Justin? I, too, would like to hear the sound at the gym. 24 hour fitness says they got notice that such an app is available now for the iPhone, but no word on one for the droid. The subtitles on most of the TV stations seem to be done by people used to misspelling while texting -- very difficult to follow.
