Final Date for Galaxy S update (Nov 11th)
As you probably know last Month that Samsung pulled-out the froyo Update files of the Samsung Galaxy S from its servers due to Many System Bugs that Made the Android froyo unstable and laggy. And Samsung UK confirmed on its twitter Status that the Froyo Update is Coming on November on its Final Version and to All Network operators and No More Delays...No More pulling-out!!

We Got Some Information that the Release Date of the Galaxy S Froyo update for USA Carriers and UK Carriers is somewhere around 11th November,2010 as a FINAL Release Date. Worldwide release will follow in few days after the Official Release of the Froyo ROM for Samsung Galaxy S, which Means that All Galaxy S users Worldwide (Include Middle-East and Arab gulf users) will get the update on November along with UK,USA Carriers too.

So The Update is Coming Finally and NO More Delays AT ALL... More Stable... More Smoother, its a matter of time right Now. As I always say "Waiting for the froyo to come-out, better than waiting for it to load!".

Well that is good news.. I had until Nov. 3rd to get my phone turned back in before my 30 days were up. If we didn't have a froyo date by the 2nd it was going back and I was waiting until release date. I wanted this froyo and then to wait a year or so so that root makes it feel like a new phone.

Now I can buy accessories Yea I'm keeping it

So would it be best to remove voodoo and root before the update? I'm guessing yes, but just looking for other opinions.
If you want it OTA you will have to I think. Or you can get it thru the xda crew and depending on whether we need a new voodoo [v.3 or whatever they call it] just flash it on that way. I dont know enough about how the filesystem works to know if they can just slap Froyo on top of the EXT4 stuff or if it needs a revision. Given your [our] tinkering nature it's safe to assume whatever Samsung gives to Verizon to push out will not be as optimized as what we can get thru xda.

ok, but heres my question- that link is just to another fan based forum... so where is this information coming from, and is it accurate? because I am not fully sure that I believe info that just comes from another forum- I want to... but is there a reliable source?

The forum that it came from cites this as a source, however, I'm still skeptical as I'm not sure how credible a source it really is.

Point is, until we have info on a specific release date from Verizon (OTA) or another known credible source, we can't be exactly sure when it will be released and all of it boils down to speculation.

yeah who knows how long it ll take verizon to skin it and push it out....what is more promising actually would be the mesmorize getting froyo as us cellular might push that out faster and already without bing :) and then with a small tweak or two we have it

Yeah because with verizon we most likely will have to wait at the minimum a few weeks after it is released and thats a stretch usually its months with verizon and they still release a buggy version when dev's take a leaked version and release it usually weeks before with much less bugs then the official ota
