I have no source for this but I seen somewhere that apparently the Nordic release was very buggy so SE have to do more work on it before releasing it anywhere else.

I'm hoping it is not true

After spending months to get it right they just couldn't do it after all. Are other 2.x phones buggy as well or is it just that SE are incompetent?

I've had it for about 30 mins, and its still very laggy. I've flashed back to 1.6 and will update to 2.1 when it becomes available

Well thats some reassuring info! But I am not surprised! I am so tired of dealing with SE and their just general incompetence with Android. They should have stayed with their great SYMBIAN and saved us all a lot of grief!!!

Alot of people have said it lags for a while when you first start it up, but it stops lagging after that, but I didn't have it long enough to find out. But I have re-installed 2.1 and will report back later :)

I very much prefer Android to Symbian!

Hi guys, I tried the much anticipated 2.1 last night, i had to read couple of the posts just to make sure i also get it right, and here is my summary:

1. Ensure you are X10i (X10a and X10mini doesnt work-as i've read)
2. Make sure you are rooted / with SuperUser permission working after rooted
3. Debrand to Nordic (At your own risk as it will take out your warranty), I am branded with Optus-Australia
4. Install ROOT EXPLORER This is important so that you can access the file and steps mentioned below from XDA: Without it, it is difficult to modify and save the DEFAULT.PROP", you can try it with other text editor but with I experienced, after changing the XXXX-XXXX numbers, it does not want to save, so use ROOT EXPLORER.

Debrand to Nordic Combined (B) Quick and update to 2.1 - xda-developers

Edit you current system/default.prop file with Root Explorer.

Go in your system folder, press the Mount R/W button in the top right corner.
Long press the default.prop file > Open in Text Editor

Replace the digits (XXXX-XXXX) in these 2 lines:

Code:
ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
ro.product.name=X10_XXXX-XXXX
With the Nordic Combined (B) digits wich is:

Code:
X10i CUST-NBC GENERIC 1234-8465
Save & Exit.

Reboot your phone

Use SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) to re-install your phone to 2.1.

By the way, one important to change as well is your country, as it was AUSTRALIA on the default.prop, i had to change it to NORWAY, then save and exit and do the SEUS.

Takes me about fifteen minutes to update as I had to download the SEUS and load to the PC and install to the phone. After the installation, you will be asked to remove the usb from phone and restart the phone.

You will see during initial boot, an icon of CAMERA and phone blinking, that may be the initial setup screen, just let it finish for a few minutes, then you will go to the initial setup screen and that's it.

My data in the phone (Pictures, backed up Apps, MP3s) were not affected and are all there in their folders after the initial setup. However, you need to import contacts from SIM, re-install the apps (though most are already included on installed APPS of 2.1).

So far, no lags, the screen is much responsive which previously was like sticking to your finger when swiping or moving across screens. The rest i had to discover yet! :)

You do not necessarily need to change the country, I didn't and it worked for me

Well, i did not at the first time, only the numbers, but maybe being branded, that is why SEUS did not updated it for the first time, it just say my phone has the latest software.
So i go on reading on post of our member from AU as well mentioning he has to change the country to NORWAY, which i also did. After that, SEUS accepted to install the 2.1

After all, we need to learn from each other's experiences for others to see what it works for them.
