Multitasking While Driving!!

good gosh, can anyone post this propaganda ONE MORE TIME ON HERE?

Does multi-tasking include changing C.D.s or messing with the radio
what about adjusting the A/C or Heater?
what about your GPS. Don't use that
Don't turn on your lights or wipers in the middle of driving.
and don't talk to a passenger either btw

in short, unless you are checking mirrors, speed, shifting, and keep your hands at 10 and 2 the entire time (unless you are in the middle of shifting of course) then you are guilty of multi-taksing.

I watch movies through my blutooth headphones while on trips. My device is in a vent-clip holder in the center vent so I can see everything I need.

Wow take it easy friend!!

I don't think you got the point. Did you even watch the video? The issue was that the driver was reading a book on his dash, fiddling with a Kindle, and talking on the phone, all at the same time.

You didn't really make a point or take a side in your post either. And the difference between you and this guy is that when you "multitask" your hands are free to steer because your device is mounted, whereas this guy has both hands off the wheel and his eyes off the road.

Well most of those activities are actually related to the driving of the vehicle, and may only take a second or two to accomplish. Many of which can be done without looking or taking ones hands off the wheel. The numb-nuts in the video was reading a Kindle and using a mobile phone, totally different and extremely dangerous IMO.

Keeping both hands on the wheel is probably the best thing one can do, especially on the highway. About 5 years ago I had a 70MPH front tyre blowout. I was only able to keep control of the car because I had both hands firmly on the wheel. If I was playing with a mobile phone or something, the car would have turned over, and I would be seriously injured or even dead.

This is 100% true, you really should not be doing anything else in the car other than driving and focusing on the road. Don't know why people think otherwise.

If everyone drove with the music off, no one else in the car, and not doing anything else other than what you listed above, there would be no accidents on the road.

Hmm i am sorry i don't agree with you friend...

i think it is far better for keeping spirits up and keeping people happy and cheerful on the road like listening to radio etc to help out boost spirits and moral than anything else so that's what i think...especially on long road trips that are boring with truck drivers that have nothing else to do they will get tired very quickly....

So are you telling me no-one shud communicate at all on the road whilst driving? That's a little bit extreme my friend... what about other people in the car...

And i don't mean to be offensive to u but i wud not pay that much attention to this Droid_Duhs guy... he was been a serious troll on these forums and not well spirited at all and has been banned as you can see... and he got me in trouble myself cause i lost my cool sadly...

But ja i agree people shud be careful on the roads and pay more attention with things could save a lot of lives that it could...

Keep well friend :)

That's very true, i was kinda just thinking of 15min max drives and what usually helps me to do my safest driving.

humans cannot concentrate on two things. One of the two tasks will always have priority. Sure we can switch back and forth but it takes a moment to realize that you attention is needed for the task that doesn't have priority. Add that second to your standard reaction time and your asking for trouble. If the government can charge higher taxes on cigarettes then it should be able to mandate that you drive and nothing else to receive a license.

so you...
dont use the radio?
dont talk to passengers?
dont look at bill boards?
dont read signs?
dont look a stores?
dont look a scenery... mountains.. sky.. trees... sunsets... lakes.. rivers....
dont think about things you need to do??
dont think about work???

now.... how do you think... your great and powerful government plan to remove all these influences.

I have to assume you're being cynical, cause the alternative would mean.....

Hmm sorry crude buddy... but it is very difficult to keep this regulated and in forced by law...

I think this is a little extreme friend...

But i do totally agree people need to keep both eyes on the road as much as possible... and be responsible where they can

Keep well dude
