Root myns 2. 2 RLS. 2 battery question

I just flashed myns and it is smooth but the thing i notice is that it eats up my battery very quickly and I have everything set up for battery saving, when I go look at my battery use it shows Android system and then Android OS this is the first time I've seen Android OS is there something I'm suppose to delete to help my battery life after I flashed the rom?

I've been running 2.2 RLS 2 since it came out. I am also running Baked Snacks kernel #6 and I get great battery life; especially idle. I also charge my batteries in an external charger and that has helped greatly.

I have the JuicePlotter widget that shows remaining battery and when I pop in a fresh battery it always shows between 20 -24 hours of life remaining. When I was charging in the phone i would unplug and see between 10-12 hours remaining.

Since I'm guess you'll ask, here is the link to the #6 kernel. Since BS 1.9 is live to the public I'm figuring there is no problem with sharing the kernel. Be aware that the kernel will show in your software settings as #2 but it is indeed #6.

So what ur saying is just to sit tight for a couple of days then and then ill see improvement

Yes. A snapshot of battery life won't really be obtained in a day. It isn't so much that the phone, battery, ROM, or kernel need to get settled down, it is usually the user. Too much time tinkering with things will run your battery down quickly. If you really think that your Android System reading is abnormally high, then have a look with System Panel and see if some rogue app is hanging open for too long.

In other words, "Let the paint dry" before you decide you want to change the color.

I tried the battery tweak... didn't like it. The preset parameters seemed too "Preset." I prefer making my own parameters with SetCPU. I couldn't wait for the paint to dry, so I flashed the Netarchy 4.1.9. cfs NoHAVS, reinstalled and setup SetCPU, and am very pleased. I also disabled Juice Defender. It was doing nothing but eating resources.

Overall, I like Myn's 2.2. It's a little buggy... some ghosting of icons (easily fixed), some battery level jumps (not drops) on re-boot, and shows some sluggishness without regular cache dumps, but it cleans up well. Silky smooth and sexy. As for battery life, it's performing at least as well as the Fresh 3.3/Netarchy 4.1.9. cfs combo.

I would also consider rebooting. I think it took a reboot for me to get the battery tweak to stick. After that I noticed some lag in the phone...where screens and apps would get the "Loading...swirly whirly". I started to panic because I thought I screwed something up. I honestly think it was things just getting integrated although I honestly have o clue. My only point is that I was ready to reflash and do something totally different when all I need to do was chill. No more "Loading....swirly whirly" and fairly decent battery life. At the very least make it through a whole day with fairly heavy usage.

I have been running the exact same setup as you for the past 2 days and my battery life has been terrible! Yesteryday, I tried it with setCPU and moderate usage and it only lasted me from 10-6:30 and then it was completely dead.

Today, I tried it without using setCPU to see if that helped and it's already at 49% remaining and I haven't used it hardly at all except for some pandora and textings and a few phone calls. Something just doesn't seem right because I have heard of people having great results with this combination.

Any advice for me?? Maybe I have an app running in the background that is causing extreme battery drain?

My combo is in the signature and seems to be a very popular Rom/Kernal for battery life. I have been on that combo for about 1 week. Yesterday I decided to give it a test for "MY" basic day to day usage, which is emails, text, a few phone calls, but not much web surfing, just a normal day for me. I am in front of a computer all day so I don't have to use it exclusively all day to surf the web etc.

Currently:
41% Battery Left
1 day 23 min 46s since unplugged
Uptime: 28:28:13
Awake time: 3:42:45

As you can see by the awake time, I have not played with the phone for long periods of time, just used it keeping up to date with email, friends, etc. I should be able to get 2 days easily with this combo. I just can't imagine there is a better combo out there. Sure, there are some that are just as good. Just so you will know, there is no setcpu or the battery tweak installed.

I hope this helps.

I'm in the same boat as you are. I'm in front of a computer for 9-10 hours a day at the office. I don't even come close to that type of battery life. When i had that combo i only got 5-6 hours tops of battery life. I'm using baked #6 kernel and still the same issue. I'm still working to see whats causing this but i have had no luck.

Have you used anything to see what apps are running? Do you have SpareParts or system panel, is anything keeping your phone awake when it is asleep, what are your top running apps, what is listed under running services, did you wipe data before you flashed the rom, did you do the normal battery fixes (sign out of Talk, uncheck enable always on mobile, make sure what is syncing and the frequencies)?

I get 14 hours, with half being sleep (literally) and the other half on - Pandora streaming and display on. If I just carry the phone around, use it on and off but however I feel like and as often as I like, I can always go at least an entire day without a charge.

I'm on rls3 beta, htc stock kernel, no setups or tweaks - but I was also able to achieve that on rls 2.2 using various kernels, cpu sets, etc.

Yes i did wipe when flashing the rom. Top runing app was appbrian which i hardly use and androidcentral widget which i never read. So i dumped the widget. I did notice Qik was runing at 28mbs. Which is insane!!! i end it and it comes right back, whats the deal with that. I hardly use it. Yes, Google talk is signed out and auto start is disabled. I did do the normal some of the normal battery fixes that are suggested. Thanks for your help btw.

Something is not right with Qik. Do you use it? If not, do you have Titanium Backup? If not get it, and use it to freeze Qik. I've read several things about Qik, don't know for sure if it's somehow tied to the functionality, but if it's frozen and something doesn't work right, you can always un-freeze it.

hmmm - sounds like you had 2 runaway type apps. Now that those are gone, reboot and see if things settle down. My phone was draining like crazy and I thought I had checked everything, but missed one of the more obvious - my sleep time was still running after the display was turned off. doh!! Spareparts showed my it was WeatherBug. I uninstalled, reinstalled and all was right in my battery world.

Ok, before reading your post this morning. I deleted the Androidcentral widget, that took way to much battery up. Also Froze Qik last night. Went home on a Full charge. Left the office at 100% took a 10 minute drive with pandora on, came home at 98%. Watched a movie on the TV while reading XDA forums on Evo by the time i went to bed 6 hours later i was at 80%. I did not charge it when going to sleep, 8 hours later i was at 74%. 3 hours later which is now, arriving at work I'm at 65%. I think the problem is solved. I actually impressed at the battery performance. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you have found the culprit. Also check and make sure Google Talk is not automatically trying to sign in. Just go into settings and uncheck the box.
