how to find my service provider on x10

hi, just wondering how i can find out my service provider, as i got x10 from a second hand shop, it was supposed to be unlocked but tried o2 sim and comes up wanting a pin number, hope someone can help.

Try in the secret menu

From swipe screen don't swipe to unlock but press... Menu Back Back Menu Back Menu Menu Back and then go into service info and it will tell you what network the phone is locked to.

You can check you region and brand by going into the Test Menu

From slide lock screen press:

menu, back, back, menu, back, menu, menu, back

and go to Service info > Model info

I'm sure you can get it sorted but why did you buy a phone from a second hand shop without testing it worked in the shop?

i was away for a few days, seen phone in shop, the guy didnt know much about it, so got a decent deal, there is also the charging issue, which i am trying to find a company to repair.

sim lock-network 4
network subset 5
service provider 5
corporate 5
sim 0
can you tell me what this means, thanks, geoff.

Brand is the network so yours is locked to '3'

the locked part doesnt bother me, ill just use the network its locked to, i have been quoted

If it's asking for a pin number, isn't it usually the pin number on the sim card that you used on your other phone?

If it's the actual phone, it would be a puk code.

Yeah thats how mine comes up, sim lock till i put pin in then unlocks and boot the network up

It's an easy enough mistake to make. I did this in the past. Got a new phone and put old sim in and it asked for a pin number. I looked in the manual and found nothing. Then I thought I'd have to activate it like I had to do in the past with old pay as you go sims, so switched the phone off in the mean time. Later on, without thinking, I switched it on and put in my old pin and it unlocked! lol

I havent DE-Branded or Rooted
just done updates through pc suite.
Im thinking it means Sim Free..

Curious for 2.1 am i Generic or Branded.

It means your phone is sim free.

Sim free = Generic then yes?

Generic may just mean the phone has been debranded, but doesn't necessarily mean it won't be simlocked.
