Nordic Population Increases By 5m Was It Worth It

Seen all these people flashing to Nordic firmware the question is though

was it worth it ??

Sony Ericsson just saw its servers jump by more downloads than it knows it has phones in that region, surely this just means that any software/firmware they release in the future is just gonna be locked down harder

But are X10 users really that impatient

I'll put the first answer - yes

I've seen people complaining about the quality of the update, when they don't even have it yet.

Thoughts - cos i'm out of loose change

lol at the thread title. :) Maybe it's sent a message that their customers were sick of waiting for their lazy ass. And loving the sig btw ;)

Well catching up today (108 unread posts) just got me thinking from our side and theirs

But yeah as for messages i hope they get it, but i hope they don't lock it up too much

As for sig - well, i got 3 points on my licence so making a statement:rolleyes:

if i'd be a SE manager somewhere i would touch on that, users go to so much trouble to get an update that was promised so long ago WHAT can we do to make the user experience better? do we want to establish ourselves as leaders? It clearly shows how many users bought our Xperia product and it really shows how much we have failed them, WHAT can we do to change that?

nothing! we suckered them once we'll do it again!

Having had an absolute skinful of the hate fest on the phone/SE it occurs to me that if there are 5m handset owners out there it really does put in to perspective the amount that are defective as a very small % of the overall and that doesn't include the rest of the world's. So the phone can't be that bad and SE's quality control no different from any manufacturing company with regard to hardware.

But I do agree with you in regard to SE taking notice of why this has happened... goes back to my pet hate of giving phones full of bloatware. Vanilla flavour with only the addition of a few sprinkles to account for local bandings and then they could release it worldwide at the same time... although whether their servers could cope with that who knows!

what do you guys think SE will do for next update?
they will update only "legal" firmware with all lock possible to stop this plague
kinda like Microsoft did with Windows XP/vista/7 (can't have 2 times the same key registered and activated @same time)
so SE might do the same (because we know each firmware is honnestly unique to each phones) so if they detect 2 times or more the exact same firnware they might brick them like apple do with hacked iphones/ipod (and once an iphone/ipod is bricked... IT IS a brick lol
good luck unlocking it

I don't know, but it had better improve this buggy release.

Using Nordic FW doesn't make the software illegal. And in regards to to MS, they're still getting up later than the worm. ;)

ok.. Did you flash your x10 with Nordic fw or you kept your stock one?

i know it doesn't but SE aren't that stupid, and that it isn't illegal but each time the SAME fw is installed, SE knows it too, as i'm sure they knows the 5 000 000 of nordic fw flashed x10 aren't from there...

Nordic.

I beg to differ! They've lost a lot of customers because of their delay after delay and not grasping what their customers actually want.

I'm sure they will know, but it doesn't matter where you bought your phone from does it?

No it doesn't matter where you bought your phone from

but how hard is it to program a bit of software -(months and months if its like firmware:D:D)- that reads the IMEI number

cos IMEI is specific to a regional market

So lets say i went to trouble of debranding, rooting, whatever, to get the NORDIC firmware

when i connect it up to SEUS it then

a) scans the software (needs updating)
b) scans IMEI of the handset (UK Market)
c) message on screen (sorry - firmware for your region is not available yet)

hehehe wonder if i just gave them an idea

and a message for Rikard if i did

(( COPYRIGHTED IT AND PATENTED IT YOU FOOLS ))

Dunno whether they'd have problems locking individual European countries, due to EU laws on free trade etc.

I agree with Rose tho, prehaps the next android phone they should just do vanilla android or go for fewer bells and whistles.

But thats just it, it wouldn't be locked,

would just be a case of - you've modified the "kit" on your phone to an alternative - this is what your "kit" should be - thats not available to download yet - therefore your software is up to date

then when your "kit" release date is passed you'd be able to download it then

Think of it as sticking to a regional release date
