I had a myTouch 3g and was totally satisified with that battery life. I upgraded to a Vibrant, that battery life is just awful.

With light to moderate use. Some web surfing, playing videos, playing games (a little) texting, downloading and installing apps, but only one short call. Didnt use wifi or anything like that.

i went from 100% to 55% in 5 hours with what i consider light usage =( (no calls, no games, only texting)

Tamosaur... wow, somethings wrong. Unplugged mine at 1145 am. It's now 830pm. So thats close to.. 9 hours. I am at %45, and I just played angry birds for the last 20 minutes. Several calls today, and a few texts, downloaded and installed several apps. Ran a few benchmarks. Played heavy gunner for a short minute (one stage).

tamosaur, when I was buying my myTouch 4G the rep told me that when he first charged his phone and used it, his phone died in 3-4hrs. He thought something was definitely wrong but after charging it all the way again, the phone lasted him 24 hrs with ~30%'ish left. That being said he said he's not a heavy user (no games, just phone calls,texts, browing web 3-4times). So i don't know if you calibrated it yet but why don't you use your phone until it shuts off on its own and recharge all the way. If anything you have 30 days return period so you're safe.

Also, look to see wht is auto syncing and turn off what you dont use. Get System panel and turn on monitoring. After a day or so look to see what is eating the battery.

if you are in a place where signal is nonexistent, use airplane mode. searching for a signal eats alot.

Went to system panel to turn on monitoring but couldn't see it...could you point me in the right direction please?

I keep forgetting that you have to purchase system panel for the monitoring part. I forget how much it is but I use it ALOT so it was worth the $ for me.

battery life is pretty decent. better than the mytouch slide. First, hspa+ speeds are often as fast as home network so I've been keeping wifi off. I also don't have gps or bluetooth on.

get thru an entire work day but it does drop off quite a bit towards the end of the day.

I have push mail from two accounts and the usual widgets, weather, facebook, etc. So, on balance battery is ok. the only thing I miss about Blackberry is the great battery life.

The first full day of using the phone didn't make it through the whole day without a recharge. I was kinda disappointed. I let the battery fully drain and then recharge to see if that improves the battery life. I am loving the phone but wasn't too happy about the battery life.

I am under 30% after only 5 hours of little use. I have syncing set up for every hour for mail, facebook, weather, but that is about it. Probably going to have to return the phone and go back to the iphone.

But I really don't want to do that as AT&T coverage in DC sucks.

I removed a few of the bloatware, and my battery holds a charge very nicely. I am constantly texting, and maybe talking on the phone for about an hour. It was charged yesterday morning, this morning with it not being on the charger, I still had 60% left on it.

Superpower had me at 56% after 9 hours yesterday. There's no signal in my office, so unless I airplane mode it, it spends a LOT of time looking for signal. Then I played Wordfued for over an hour and it took me below 30%. I played with it pretty extensively after that and it died about 3 hours later.

Internet related activities certainly seem to be the biggest drain by far.

Like any all touchscreen phone.. how bright the screen is and how long its on for makes the biggest difference.. and volume.. no volume and a dim screen will last alot longer then fully lit and playing games and stuff with the volume on..

I have found that poorly coded apps are the biggest drain on the battery. I downloaded something from the market and while it had no good reason to run in the background, it was and just sucking the life out of my battery. I would share what app it was, but I went through in mass deleting apps trying to fix the issue so not sure exactly which one it was.

I seem to be back on track to getting at least 8-9 hours of usage before needing a recharge. Which I consider to be acceptable for any smartphone now days.'

When I select GSM ONLY mode from network settings instead of automatic, it goes to a slower speed connection with an "E" icon instead of the "H" which Im only guessing stands for HSPA+

Maybe that can save some battery life?
