Rogers Update is Here

Can someone link a valid tutorial for debranding. I have the firmware, however the tutorials I have read seem to be from July or August and Sony has fixed it. ORRRRR I'm doin it wrong. Which entirely possible. However if someone has a valid way to debrand their rogers phone that they have used recently. I would appreciate any help you can offer.

If you want to debrand AND install X10i version 2.1 go here:

X10Flash 2.1 final & 2.1 Firmware (Updated Flasher 2.11.2010) - xda-developers

You should know that it is likely that Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) will not update your phone in the future if it's a X10a hardwarae with X10i firmware. It should be relatively easy to install X10a version 2.1 once it's available though, just wait for a tutorial!

If you want to debrand AND keep X10a version 1.6 (and wait a couple of days/week/months? for 2.1) go here:

Debranding ? - Page 5 - xda-developers

and select one of those three firmware versions:

X10a CUST-AR NAM1 1237-1014 1236-2474 Customized AR/Sensuous black
X10a CUST-BR NAM1 1234-4836 1232-4526 Customized BR/Sensuous black
X10a CUST-GEL NAM1 1234-4820 1234-4388 Customized GEL/Sensuous black, 1234-4389 Customized GEL/Luster white

AR = Argentina
BR = Brazil
GEL = Generic Latin

No matter which version you decide to use, make sure you read and understand the process and that you follow the instructions, and there will be very little risk of damaging your phone. Don't hesitate to ask questions on XDA lots of knowledgable people there.

I'm on Rogers running 2.1 and it works very well! I'm just wondering if later I'll have troubles with the updates since the phone is X10a the the firmware X10i...

It might not be worth the troubles if you're not really in a hurry to get the update though.

I was going to do this, but I decided to just wait it out for another 6 days until Rogers has the update (apparently)

Guys... 5 days to wait only... and Mr Patchy Patch lol
we will have it before Argentina i 'm sure lol

5 days? Where did you hear that?

I'm with Rogers as well and I think i'll just wait. I'm techy enough to really want to mess with my phone but I am also scared enough to brick it and i'm enjoying the BA20 update and my new battery life that I can wait for the rest :)

I'm on 2.1, it's pretty cool, but menu lags. I'm going to flash to nordic and give it a try maybe something is wrong with the global fw, I sure hope so.

I heard about some glitches.
1. Is music working thru headphones ok?
2. Do you have Full 3G and Wifi with no problems?

1. Music is playing well (I tought at first it was only coming out mono but it was just one of my song that was probably corrupted as if I play it on my computer, it is mono as well lol)
2. I had to update my APN settings after the firmware push. You can see this link that provides info on what to setup as information. I didn't have any Wi-Fi problems.

It's pretty fun to have your contacts' pic sync'ed with their Facebook profile pic and some Live Wallpaper are really cool :) Careful though, some drain batterie a LOT, but not all of them.

I done it, no problem after a day, and runs pretty smooth. Apart fancier look and some new apps available, not much improvement on Sony's side (except recording in HD), just Android's

Like many before, I couldn't wait for the Rogers update and decided to flash to the Nordic FW and I must say I am VERY impressed! My girlfriend even said the sound quality is improved in that the X10 can drain out the background noise better, so maybe some of you guys are hard to impress? *shrugs*

Yeah, but in the grand scheme of things, is 6 days of waiting time really going to make any difference? I read through all the pages on XDA about the firmware, about people having some issues, and frankly, I don't want to be one of those people. And I would rather wait for an actual X10a release.

I had no issues, but the benefits are pretty mild. 720P, a better browser (who was really using the stock browser anyways) and the phone is a bit faster and still quite slow compared to almost every other phone out there (check Linpack out).

I'm not seeing better battery life right now either.

When you press the menu square, does it zoom in and out with no lag? Also the scrolling of the menu.

Can any one comment on the in-call volume? Is it any different. I had read one say it is better, one say it is the same.

It is ok now but could be louder, especially when outside with ambient noise.

Thanks

Honestly, the in call volume on 1.6 was good enough for me. On 2.1, i think it might be slightly louder, or thats just me exagerating -_-

I just called Rogers for a non-Android related issue, and before I hung up, I asked the representative if he knew when the new update for the Xperia would be available. He told me that he had no idea, that I should contact Android's customer support (!) and they could tell me... So I told him SE had released it in some countries, he then told me if it was available elsewhere, just to go download it from the internet and install it. I then said it would probably void my warranty, he replied "Oh no, it won't!"...

So please never assume they know what they're talking about! At least he told me I should contact tech support, they should have more informations.
