Help Toasted SD card

Has anybody encountered a problem with their SD card not working? I upgraded to an 8gb card about 2 weeks ago and woke up one morning to find my phone dead and acting funny. A coworker that has helped me to root the phone went to work on it and says that the sd card is no longer working. Other cards work fine in the phone, just not my 8 now, it also doesn't work in other phones or the computer.

Is it simply a manufacturing defect with the card or did something in the phone fry the card? If the phone did it, what can be done to prevent this happening again.

My Hero was running Fresh at stock speeds and nothing else special.

If other cards are working.. it is the SD card.

And yes.. SD cards do have problems of "going south".

There are some 'RECOVER' programs out there for SD cards but they have limited success.


That is why I do Titanium Backups and make them redundant by copying them to my laptop HD.

What brand card? Most cards have a manufacturer's warranty. Many are lifetime. Some cards do fail...

It was a store brand (MicroCenter) but I have used their cards in the past without any problems. I just called the store and the card has a one year warranty so I'm off to return it.
