HomeSmack allows you to change your default Home or default Long-search app. It's similar to Home Switcher or Home Manager, but uses a method of selecting the default that works well with Android 2.2.

HomeSmack also has some special Motoblur features (that need more testing, hence posting to the Droid X subforum)! On rooted phones it lets you change the double-tap app to any app on your phone (QuickDesk or Powerstrip!) and it lets you install a patched VoiceSearch APK that:
1) Sends the standard android SEARCH_LONG_PRESS intent letting you select any normal long-search app.
2) Still lets you select VoiceSearch as the long_search app or use it normally from Launcher
3) Patches the security flaw noted here (Droid 2 bug allows anyone to make calls at passcode screen [updated -- Droid X, too] | Android Central)

1.0
• Renamed package (So uninstall the old one or you'll have two)
• Posted to Market
beta3
• Allows you to chose "Nothing" for double-tap
• If VoiceSearch is not installed it will prompt you to install the hacked version (no need to install it to /system)

Downloading now. Will let you know.

Update: Got it installed and I love this app. Right now I have QuickDesk set to my long press search and Executive Assistant set for my double tap home.

One quirk I notice is Launcher Pro launches the screen preview when double tapping. I don't remember if it did this before since I never used the preset double tap app. Not HomeSmack's fault though.

It definitely does what it is supposed to do though. Great job. Another awesome product from TeslaCoil Software.

I love this. I reinstalled quickdesk, and this works in any app with the long-press of the search button to bring up my quickdesk! I couldn't get it to work with double-tap in an app, it just bounced me to my homescreen.

I am having the same problem with the double-tap. It will open up Quickdesk but then bounce me right back to the home screen. I have QuickDesk set as the default for the home key and also in the Moto page too for double-tap action and am using LauncherPro.

Also the long-press of the search button hack doesn't seem to be working either in RubiX 1.6 (it was working with Tranquility 3.0). It is always taking me to Voice Search.

How it is implemented may require some of the blur components that Tranquility has but rubiX has removed. It may not be compatible with blurless ROMs.

I installed this today and it works great on my Droid X running Tranquility 3.0. Earlier this week I tried installing the new ADW beta and it didn't work for me so I uninstalled it' After that, I could no longer select Launcher Pro as my default launcher. Now I can switch as much as I want. I need to check out the other features but for now, I'm happy that I have control over launchers.

The search long press will not work on Droid x running Rubix focused ROM. Worked fine with ApeX ROM, but not Rubix

I had some problems with RubiX focused at first too but got it to work by playing around with it. Try reinstalling qiuckdesk/powerstrip or voice search. I'm running rubiX 1.6 Focused and go it to work, so it can be done. You just need to play around with it.

I've been playing with it a little, I just switched to rubix last night right before I went to bed so I'm still getting some things setup, but at least now I know someone has it working so ill play around with it some more. Thanks
