See Gmail application not auto-syncing on Android 2.2 phone - Gmail Help

This has been driving me nuts since Tuesday night. I've done all of the normal things - clear data for Gmail Storage (even for Calendar and Contact Storage). Kicking off a sync manually works, but it hasn't pushed for almost two days now. I'm now getting by with an app called Setting Profiles, which I have turning autosync on for 5 minutes every 15 minutes. (I may actually switch to Exchange sync for gmail until this is resolved.)

Is anybody else seeing this?

doogald,

Not sure if this is relevant or not to your question, but I never have auto-sync for Gmail turned on (part of my battery-saving strategy :p). But every time I do ask Gmail to manually sync ("refresh") one of my accounts, I actually have to do it twice in order to see all of the emails that I know are there. My Inbox will have the correct count of emails that should be displaying, but the actual emails won't show up until I hit refresh a second time. Its always been like this for me...(or is this "refresh" actually different from the "Sync Gmail" option in Settings?...I probably wouldn't use that anyway, since hitting refresh from the Gmail app is a little easier, albeit annoying :D).

P.S. thanks for the kind app review! ;)

doogald, my wife's Eris is having the EXACT problem you described--starting early Wednesday AM, it won't automatically sync google contacts, gmail, or calendar. Tried the clear data, reset, battery pull, no help.

Was going to try removing the Google account and then re-adding it to see if it helps. From your link it looks like this might be a Google problem across other phones. My Droid X is still pushing email, thankfully.

Edit: her Google Voice is instantly pushing voicemails/texts perfectly....

Frankly, Google keeps having these annoying issues (gmail this time; the market is frequently messed up) that is simply an embarrassment for Android. This is their OS and their services that are getting messed up. Meanwhile, my iPod Touch is still getting push updates from Gmail using Exchange. The worst part is that there is no sort of notification (via Twitter, a status update page like this, whatever) to let people know that something is wrong.

Thanks for the link.

Things seem to be working for me now - just as I downloaded K-9, set up my gmail account, got all of the settings looked at and changed (it is a very nice and powerful email app, by the way) - my first notification is doubled from both K-9 and Gmail. Good deal.
