Help 3G Always recieving or sending

Hi

My DHD seems to use a lot of 3g data when its not in a wi-fi area, I have an app monitering both wifi and 3g data and if wi-fi isn't on 3g keeps recieveing / transmitting data.

I have turned off auto syncing, turned off syncing for htc hub but can't find out what data is been recieved or sent out all the time. Also locations have been disabled.

Has this happened to anyone else and do you know what the problem is??

Thanks

yeah settings in apps that require constant data to function properly would do that...i would suggest going through the ones you installed since you noticed this problem start and check out the update settings.

also, there's an app that I love that's called juice defender - in the market - that helps to monitor app data use. check it out!

It's no good just changing the main settings on the phone you need to change the settings on each individual app as they always superseed the main settings .

hi.

i also found ONLY after i rooted my samsung captivate 3g 2.2 froyo, it would constantly upload/download non stop, receiving, sending, always on. it never happened before i rooted!

the only way i can stop the 3 g uploading/downloading, receiving/sending data always on, after spending hours force closing and also "freezing" every possible app (a rooted option only) was to go to "accounts and sync", then "general sync settings", then uncheck/turn off/disable auto-sync.

i don't have facebook or twitter, but if you just turn off/uncheck auto sync, it did fix it for me. i read elsewhere you should turn off auto-sync for facebook, etc.

auto sync (before i rooted) ONLY, and i mean ONLY, turned on (auto synched) ONCE each day for my android phone @ 6:03 am, period, end of story.

however, if i changed a contact, sent a gmail, or changed a gmail calendar item, it would auto sync afterwords, BUT just once, using the round rotating circle indicator. but my problem, like yours, was the red and green uploading/downloading (upload/download sync) arrows and my battery was getting very hot.

but ONLY after i rooted, auto sync has gone wild, and is always on, constantly uploading/downloading (i mean the red and green arrows, NOT the round circle). it is the upload/download arrows showing uploading/downloading of data that went wild. the round circle/dot with arrows on it was not the problem. the uploading/downloading red and green arrows indicated a constant, and i mean constant, upload or download of data for NO reason.

i finally determined ONLY after i disabled auto sync, the 3g red and green uploading/downloading (data) arrows finally stopped. i tried to force close every app possible, and had i already deleted the bloatware from at&t and samsung i never use, which made this a waste of several hours.

fyi, i tried a zillion possible phone setting solutions to fix the 3g icon indicator always being connected, always on, constantly uploading, downloading, synching, always activated, always having data transferred, transferring, sending and receiving.

now, after turning off (unchecking) the "auto synch setting, the full time, 3g icon always on, uploading, uploads, downloads, uploading, downloading, data transfer, receive, receiving, send, sending, syncing has stopped.

P.S. I LEFT BACKGROUND DATA TURNED ON WHEN I FIXED THE ANDROID PHONE 3G UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD problem and issue, (with the 3g icon constantly and always lit up, turned on, activated, constantly uploading, downloading, receiving, sending, 3g data).

i specifically and only just turned off (unchecked) auto-sync!

edit: i may have caused this as i deleted the stock "email" app since i only use Gmail on my phone.

i did not want 2 email apps, and the stock Gmail was ok with me. i do not like my personal email to go to my phone, and only check my normal email at home. i only use Gmail because android requires it. i don't give out my Gmail address to anyone. thus, i did not want 2 email accounts on my phone.

well, the stock email app, although i never, ever used it, nor did i enter any settings, does have a setting for how often to update/sync.

i am wondering since i deleted the stock email app, if it caused an imbalance - allowing Gmail to go wild, even if i never used the stock email account. Gmail and the stock email app may be interrelated some how...
