Verizon VCast App Store

Wait, wait, wait, did I read that right? This update will install more v-cast junk on our phones? This line here worries me:

The update includes software enhancements that will pre-install V CAST Apps on the phone.

I don't want to have anymore pre-installed junk on my phone, espically v-cast stuff that will charge you extra per month if you use them. If this is true, I'm going to root my phone as soon as this update gets pushed and blow it all away.

I know the devs will. It just makes me mad that Verizon keeps putting apps on OUR phones that nickel and dime us to death. I even saw in the full release that they are installing an improved version of CityID. I hate wireless companies.

Heres a link to the full release if you haven't seen it:

This is just VCAST App store. It is like Market but allows you to charge apps to your Verizon bill. Means you can buy an app and pay for it with your monthly bill.

I am actually interested.

Agreed, I will wait until I experience it first before passing some sweeping preconceived judgment on it. Not all change is evil...it could be better than Market...just have to wait and see.

I believe you were reading the update to Froyo for the CityID improved version. This update does not have it, I believe.

No, I was reading the official release for this update from Verizon. This right here:
http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/incredible.pdf

Top of the 2nd page, last thing in the 2nd column.
If only 1 page of the PDF loads, keep clicking refresh till it does. Theres something weird with that PDF and it doesn't load correctly.

My main worry are these words right here:
will pre-install V CAST Apps
This makes it sounds like that its not just the v-cast market that will be installed. The idea of the v-cast market allowing apps to be charged on your bill is interesting, but I've never downloaded an app that you have to pay for. So for me, it really doesn't matter.
