Accessories EVO car dock now available?

Looks like it could be a Pandora specific issue.

I am still kind of suprised you cannot order this dock off the Sprint website (or at least you couldn't as of yesterday). I called the store with the SKU from the previous posts here, and they suggested I order it myself, but I couldn't, even with the SKU. Had to go down to the Sprint store and have them order it. First salesperson told me there was no such thing, but I had printed the picture with the SKU. LOL
Well, this same mount is on
1
eBay for $40.

Yes...very possible.. just cut the trace on the small circuit board going to pin 4....it would work...

Any tips on getting to the circuit board? How do I take the dock apart without breaking it? If you'd take a few minutes to explain what you did to get it apart, I'd appreciate it.

If you do that, and I take mine apart and attempt to modify it, I'll post pictures and a walk-through on here for anyone else interested in trying (assuming I'm successful).

Thanks!

Rob

For those of you having issues using the dock AND the 3.5mm jack to send audio through to your car speakers, there's finally a music player that actually resolves this 100%.

Right now, it's only a "trial" version, which leads me to believe that it will eventually be a paid app, but the player is called PowerAMP! It was posted in the music player thread, but it's significant enough that I'm posting the download link from appbrain on here:

PowerAMP Music Player (Trial) - Android app on AppBrain

This Music player has an equalizer that allows you to control the volume level from the player! This solved my issue of the sound coming out distorted because the dock would disable the volume control!

Sorry for those of you that returned the dock because of that issue, but this player is definitely worth it. I'm still going to keep MusicMod because I like the form factor, but this player will be my dedicated music player while I'm in the car and my phone is docked.

Sounds good, but Pandora will still have the problem, right?

I really wish I know how to take apart my dock; if I did, I'd mess with it and see if I could cut the ground to the pin which is causing it to go into "dock mode". That would solve the problem at the source.

Anyone?

Thanks, applied it but it doesnt work. It allows the volume slider to change but the volume just stays the same.

It would be nice to be able to change the volume. Not so much for using in the car (because I can just set the volume there) but because when I am not traveling I use it as a desk mount and it would be nice to be able to plug in my headphones.

This sucks.. I have the Otterbox is this looks like it will not work with it!!!

Nope, the HTC OEM car dock requires you to take your phone out of the case. Most people are ok with that, because putting your device in the dock usually means you will be driving for an extended period of time and therefor will leave your device in the dock, where it can't be scratched or dropped. The otterbox takes eight seconds to take off too, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Right?

anyone have any tips for taking apart the oem evo car dock to do this? My problem is when i am in the car dock it will only charge in usb mode even with a 1a sprint oem charger. When i bypass the dock and charge the phone directly i get ac charge mode which charges at the normal rate.

From what i read this is caused by the pin 4 being grounded in the car dock so im hoping if i disconnect the ground from pin 4 it wont trigger car mode and i can charge at full speed. I have a bluetooth car radio and with cm7 i can set it to turn on car mode on bt connect making the trigger in the car dock not needed.
