ok well i think:

1. theres a htc mobile widget? that turns the data flow on and off
2. themes, from what i learned yesterday check out the htc desire thread on that, i used launcher pro and folder organizer to customise icons, but have a gander you'll be able to find the thread.
3. lol im old skool, i just chuffing drag and drop from net book to sd card, but think the rest of the peeps here will advise on that :)
4.auto sync kills batteries (but you dont use data on the go so thats negated)
5. ooo games, i'll let the other peeps suggest, i like my boring turn based strategies like uniwar and everlands hehe

p.s. why have you got a desire hd...a super smartphone and not get a mobile data package with it?

1. Read above
2. click the bottom right button in the dock. click skins. choose from there
3. To put songs just copy them over to your sd card. The default music app is good enough imo, but there are plenty of good ones out there. just pull up a google search
4. Do yourself a favor and delete advanced task killer. that will kill your battery. as for other ways of saving battery, keep the screen brightness not too high, switch off 3g if you're not using it. can't think of others :p
5. there's tons of apps, just head over to the application and games section on this forum. plenty of options!

edit: beaten by eddie lol

ur talking about rugby right? football is more my thing :)

you mean the one where an ankle tap means rolling around crying like a baby? lol im kidding, im a fulham supporter myself, but passionate rugby league/union player too.

oh and since im bored and point 5.

Games at the moment aren't the greatest on the android platform esp when you see the plethora of quality games on the iphone, but bit by bit games are being slowly ported across onto android e.g. angry birds & fruit ninja, but some of the games i have at the moment are:

Robo defence (1st game i bought, addictive tower defence game)
Everlands (cute, addictive and surprisingly deep hex strategy game...but its a lil short)
Shoot U! ( love it, physics game shooting a rag doll...nuff said! lol)
Word Up! (GF loves this, word finding game)
Blow Up (what can i say, blow things up whilst trying to not kill panda? hehe)
Chess (what? seriously...what? so i like chess, bite me! lol)

not really played any of the 3d games like baseball superstars on my Hero as it isnt cut out for it (but have on my mates desire and its pretty fun) once my DHD arrives next week tho...that'll change hehe

Why i thought, advance task killer actually helped the battery life by closing down all the apps that are running in the background :s

And the skins are very limited i wanted custom ones ;(

actually any app you have running in the background is not actually running. It doesnt use any cpu cycles because it is in effect just "frozen". If you use a task killer, you're using cpu power to kill the task, which is unnecessary and could really effect your battery depending on how often you decide to kill apps.

As for custom skins, hmm maybe you could try launcher pro. There's plenty of different skins for that.

Is it worth it? I m pretty happy with my phones performance ( and it has the latested andriod version..) What does it actually do?

yeah rooting is similar to jealbreaking. With root you can install certain apps which require root. Some include free wireless tether, overclocking, titanium backup (which backs up all your apps, settings etc), and more. Also you can install custom roms with more efficient kernels etc. (but that's not possible on the DHD yet)

Well imo if you are happy with your phone then there shouldn't be any reason to root. Don't forget rooting voids your warranty so i would only root if you really need to.
