I ordered the new Ipad from Verizon Wireless!

It's not that bad. The person is happy that they are getting a new toy, we're all tech geeks here.

I just don't see the point in having a tablet.

This seems more like a lounge discussion. I don't get why he posted this here and didn't give any detail or ask any questions or something like that:thinking:. This thread is no use to anybody that way. All the person said was i got an ipad, on an android forum at that . now what? does the person wanna get hosed by the android fanboys?:p

I just took it as a happy geek wanting to discuss his/her new toy. It's a Verizon pad and they posted in the Verizon section.

Maybe they were expecting a warm welcome since it is a very popular device and were anticipating questions or positive discussion.

Just speculating of course.

Eh.. Your probably right. Might not really get much interest in the device from others around here though.

It's not the worst way to get the MiFi gadget with no contract and since you bought it with the iPad, you can use it with the cheaper tablet data plan. You could also sell the iPad and keep the MiFi.

Keeping the iPad isn't the worst option. You could have the added benefit of pissing off people with nothing going on in their life other than having a rampant hatred for an inanimate object that has no bearing on their life (or lack of one) whatsoever.

Samsung is also making 10" tablets with an amazing display. I hate to admit it but I am tempted by a win7 like tablet. Android apps are not very high end, you shouldn't have to look high and low for a nice professional app. I am tired of wading through crap on the Market or hoping to find some gem in Appbrain.

For android tablets to really give the iPad and windows 7 tablets a run for their money, some evil corporate entities need to make products for people to use on these nice tablets because independent developers haven't been getting the job done.

It is the WiFi only iPad that uses the MiFi card. I really like this option (yeah I know that MiFi is one more thing to carry around but it is half these size of a deck of cards.) The attraction for me is that it can support 5 devices for WiFi. Even better is that you're only paying about another $150 or so for it. This is the non-contract price. The MiFi alone is $250-$300 plus the data plan starts at $60 a month for a relatively small amount of data.

If you get the iPad/MiFi package, you can use the tablet data plan which starts out cheaper and tiers up. Plus, you don't have to get the contract (you don't for the MiFi either, but you don't have the option of the cheaper data plans.)

OK, I'll admit it. If Verizon's mobile broadband network was really fast, I would be in love with this thing. I would love it so much that I would not be embarassed to be seen with the iPad. There, I said it.

Thanks. My understanding of the regular 3g ipad is that you can turn on the 3g service only when you want it, and it is prorated for that time. I think there are minimum blocks of time, but you don't have to purchase a data plan.

I am interested in how vzw makes data available for the android tablets. If I am paying $30/mo on unlimited data for my droid, does that plan now include an android tablet as well? If not, how much for data , assuming cdma radios are going to be put in tablets.
