Who's picking up the Galaxy Tab and using tethering w/ Evo?

I'd get an iPad over this in a heartbeat, especially since they're the same size. I second everyone here saying that the tablet can't really do anything the EVO can't, so what's the point?

As for why I'd get the iPad, it really comes down to ONE APP. It's an app that's been rumored to be coming out for Android for a while, but I've heard nothing lately. Any guesses as to what app I'm talking about?

NETFLIX!!!

My daughter has an iPod touch, and she watches Netflix movies at home over our wifi, and away from home, she watches Netflix on her iPod while tethered to my EVO. Why can't we have an Android app?

I totally agreed. No more android devices until netflix is here!

I do it from time to time.. But it is not ideal.. I am looking forward to the bigger screen on the tab for sure.. I was downloading some games and apps last night and noticed quite a few of them had a note that they were optimized for the Galaxy tab screen..

Yeah but unless you are a frequent flier what's the appeal of watching moviesbon a subb seven inch screens well when usuallythere is a tv sitting aroundfour times the size? And yes it is nicetoo have but it just seems peopleare putting too much stock into netflixt

You must be using a virtual keyboard because barely made sense out of that.

Yes I typed it on my Evo..

I am a frequent flier. I have not owned a tv in over 5 years.. Also being a bit older, the 4" screen is hard on my eyes.. I think 10" tabs are not truly portable. If I am going to carry 10" device I rather carry a net book.. A 7" tab is a very portable size..

Yea that's why I think the 7in is more ideal, its ur going to carry a 10in tab go ahead and get a netbook. To me tabs are really worthless in the fact they are not portable, why would this replace something like my Evo? But I'm not here to knock anyone who wants a tab. But if your going to get one, 7in is the perfect balance between wanting more than ur average 4in smartphone but not wanting the added weight of a whole laptop.

I really dont see a need for one. I have my desktop, for work and pleasure, and as time goes by I'm starting to use my EVO more and more to surf the net. Just last night it saved me $20 by allowing me to compare prices of items at Newegg instead of best buy. I use Dolphin by the way which I have grown to love...haven't tried other browsers other than stock.

I think the Evo has really lessened the load in my desktop. I don't even download music on my pc anymore. I'm always downloading tracks on my Evo (sometimes even whole albums) with a nearly flawless downloading app and a tag editor, don't need my pc to perform these tasks anymore. So convenient because now all my music is on my phone and I use my phone as an mp3 player in my car.

I still want to check it out but the following video of browsing on the Tab (its main advantage given its res & size) left me unimpressed & questioning its value proposition:

Their longer first 24 hr review seemed a little more interesting & at about 11:37 the EVO makes a side by side comparison of which I attach a couple screen captures:

I got the Galaxy Tab, and I love it. It fits in the front pocket of my pants, and while I can definitely feel that it's there I can still sit down comfortably. The screen is awesome, and it is the perfect size and weight for one handed use. I really like Samsung's take on Android as well. I don't use any of the social networking crap that Sense has, and aside from that Samsung does a better job with the home screen and notifications bar. Flash also runs better than on the EVO although I do not know why, both processors are 1Ghz ARM.

Looking at various reviews on the Tab I have to say its pretty impressive I think its a great size and for everything that it does I think its a great option if you're in the market for a tab. Me having an Evo tho, i think its screen size is just enough for me to not be tempted to get a tab. Had I had I smaller screen device like my old Hero I would have been a bit more interested. Not to mention I consider my Evo very fast and fluid being rooted already, has a ffc, and is more portable.

i was really thinking of picking one up till i saw the $$$:eek::eek::eek:

Yea I have to agree. I have an ipad 3g and I swore I wouldn't get the tab but after getting caught up in the hype I almost bought one yesterday. After crunching the numbers several things didn't make sense. $600 minus $200 if you sign a 2 year contract for a minimum monthly of $29.99 for 2GB of data. So to save $200 you have to commit to over $720 in payments. Accordingto the rep I spoke to even if you buy it outright for the $600 you still have to buy the data plan with a 2 year commitment regardless if you want 3g data. Oh and just in case you like sprint telenav, it's an additional $9.99 per month! Luckily google nav is free. If they ever go the way of the ipad 3g where you can stop and start 3g data with no contract then I might revisit getting one.
