Root Root users and November update

IMO, it's not worth unrooting, a lot of the custom ROMs are already using the new stuff

I just flashed Myn's Warm 2.2 and I'm pretty sure there's new stuff in it since it's based of the 10/13/10 leak

That's the thing, I wasn't sure what I should do. Either unroot to get the update, find the update on XDA or install a custom ROM. Either way the phone practically gets a factory reset regardless.

I'm rooted with the stock rom and I keep getting the ota notice. As soon as I try to install, it tells me I am up to date. Then I get the update notice again the next day.

i don't think the OTA will install if you have root. i updated it via RUU (make sure you have S-OFF since you will lose root once you install the OTA -- it has a new hboot and recovery and you have to reflash the recovery).

try these links: update guide, xda forum

you can download the rom from the xda forum thread if you don't feel like extracting it (see post 67).

it will wipe your phone clean, so make sure you do a titanium backup (or similar) before updating and then restore user apps and system data after doing all the steps in the guide.

At the moment I am rooted and have Redemptive Revolution custom ROM flashed on my Incredible. If I don't want to unroot and flash back to stock, I just have to wait till RR is updated or find the update on XDA and install it? What would be easier/better process if I wanted to get the November update? Mahalo in advance.

UPDATE:

Just went to the XDA forums and got the new RR 2.1 custom ROM with the OTA update. SWEET. Flashing it right now onto my Incredible.

RR already has the november update minus all the vcast junk and any vzw bloatware.

I am running Virtuous 3.0.1 not the newest version. For whatever reason I get better battery life out of this version. ANYWAY, I received the notification today that I have an OTA ready to install. From what I've read here and XDA we don't need to update if we have root because MOST of the newer ROMS already have everything in it from this update. Is that correct?

IF I accept the OTA then I will lose root, but will be able to restore clockworkmod and get root back because I am S-Off, correct?

Yes you are correct on both counts.
