Problems with my HTC & Orange network

Have had my HTC for couple of months now much wanted phone after hearing great reviews about it, so i managed to get it on Orange network which was great at first now i hardly can get onto the internet (Unlimited internet included in my contract) so yes i want to use it as much as i can :) loads of mins too and 50 pic mms included so here is my problem.....have big probs using internet in last month, a lot of my calls go to voicemail (yes have checked settings) even though my phone dont ring?..Damm annoying as i have no home phone so this is very important to me....mms well have to send them few times before they get them and wen i do send them always has a "!" mark next to it.....rang orange up today as now not happy and thinking of ending my contract because at end of the day Orange im afraid you are not giving me what i pay for so under what im allowed to do think you find im in the right, i dont want to to go but do you actually leave me any choice? Tec guy from ornage spoke to quickly on end of line i couldnt actually understand him? od did i mention he going to ring me monday to see if any better because oh suddenly he has done something his end!!! Yea im not that stupid...if it was that easy DO IT FOR ALL YOUR CUSTOMERS WITH A HTC AND ON ORANGE....he said they have had loads of complaints about same problem with internet with these phones on orange...funny how they never contact you saying we will reduce your direct debit until issue resolved eh?...so now im left deciding on leaving orange oh joy!

If the problem is with the Orange signal strength in your area, my advice is to keep complaining to Orange. My friend at work had a similar problem, and after 3 or 4 complaints, and no possible solution, Orange let him cancel his contract without needing to buy-out the remaining talk plan payments.

The bottom line is that you pay Orange for a service and in some cases Orange can't provide that service. It's not always something you can "try-before-you-buy", so letting you out of the contract is a valid solution.

oh thanx, yes i did complain to orange some time ago so they put my phone onto 2g as was better signal? i somehow felt i had been short changed there? well i then put it back up yes signal is worse than ever here and wen i have said something its the usual oh mast is down!..yea and? im paying you for it as for paying them my remainder talk n stuff they got no chance im digging my heels in this time.
My daughter has same problem as me too and she is in next town

You've got an HTC Desire Smartphone, and for that you need 3G. End of story. Whenever you discuss the problem with Orange, remember that some customers DO have signal strength problems and it's nothing that you, HTC, or Orange can do anything about. The unavoidable lack of 3G coverage and the need for 3G on the handset and Orange talk plan you are paying for should be the basis of all discussions you have with Orange.

I am having a similar problem my phone has been running fine for the past 5 or so months however this weekend mainly today it wont send or receive more than one text without it turning off first. Also i am not receiving and calls only text messages afterwards saying that i have a missed call for that person.

At first i thought it was a signal problem but i have monitored it for the past hour or so with full bars for the majority of it, anyone got any ideas?

I am on Orange (UK) and I got a txt msg from them t'other day asking me to join up to use the T-Mobile signal. I had to sign up via a webpage on orange but now I get a joint signal. When it connects to T-Mobile you get the "R" roaming sign. It is great as I now get a full signal pretty much anywhere I go!

So maybe you guys in the UK should look into signing up to the joint signal and see IF it available for you......I'm not sure who actually qualifies because I was offered it but my GF (on the same deal as me) wasnt.......

The best thing to do is complain and ask for compensation.

My "Three" network Blackberry worked fine at the start of my contract and then halfway through the contract it started disconnecting in the middle of receiving and making calls at home. So I called them up and told them that I am not able to use the service that I have been paying for. They gave me all the excuses about the local mast being upgraded so I asked them to refund the direct debits that I had been paying until the problem was solved... and they did!

I had a few issues with my Desire being delivered late and Vodafone still charging me for the first full month even though I didn't have the phone in my possession. Did the same again: called, complained, and got a refund for a months direct debit payment.

Moral of the story is that if you have an issue, most networks are more than happy to sort it out if you let them know and if you tell them how you would like to be compensated.

Hope you get it sorted out soon matey

Network sharing is only 2g at the moment.
I have it cos orange is rubbish signal where I live but i now have full service using orange-t-mobile.

 Strange one that cause at the other house we dont get any signal on orange in various rooms but with the t-mobile link up I can surf quite happily over the mobile network connection anywhere in the house......Maybe it is area specific??

@doad, that's the link I got :) I was a bit dubious at first but after I got set up my connection is so much better. You need to enable auto and data roaming in the wireless and network settings for it to work. I got a txt msg from them saying I had signed up and to turn the phone off and then back on. I also got a pretty lame msg from Orange/T-mobile congratulating me the first time I used the roaming signal  Oh well, at least they care....lol

Yesterday I suddenly started getting messages popping up on mine every time I visited a website via mobile web which had any kind of forum on it, such as here, saying that "Orange Safeguard" had blocked access to the site as they couldn't confirm I was over 18 (a joke - I'm on pay monthly so I have to be over 18 to get a credit contract, plus beside all else I'm 39...) I phoned Orange this morning and after a few minutes it was all sorted. The bizarre thing though was that they told me it was actually disabled on my account already, yet it was still blocking sites. Odd.

I also had/having Orange 3G problems. Last week I couldn't use the mobile internet at all. This week the mobile internet is working fine but I'm experience low signal strength in places I've usually been ok. I've put it down to the Orange/T-Mobile merge (which I'm signed up for) and maybe they're experiencing difficulties or something. It's currently not a massive problem for me but if things don't improve soon I may have to give Orange a call.

I also seem to be having sporadic issues with network coverage.

Sitting at my desk at work I can sometimes have a 3g signal but most of the time it has no signal what so ever and I am in the centre of Edinburgh. Also have numerous problems with sending text message and them being undelivered. I wasnt sure at first if it was the handset or the provider. I have also been getting the blocked forum messages aswell which is very dissapointing.

Same problems here.

Branded Orange Desire. Received calls going straight to voicemail even when I have 3G displayed in the status bar - and yet I get the 'missed call' texts and 'new voicemail' notifications straight away. Calls take 30 seconds to connect. Web pages commonly fail to load.

Phoned up Orange 3 times on the last month to complain and they said they weren't aware of any problems and recommended I don't read non-official forums as they paint Orange in a bad light. They last guy I spoke to said it's comparable to when Windows 7 was released and all the Vista and XP fanboys slated it. He didn't really accept my arguement that I'm not here to mock Orange, I'm just a customer who's having problems with the poor 3g signal along with hundreds of others! Grrr!

did i mention he going to ring me monday to see if any better because oh suddenly he has done something his end!!! Yea im not that stupid

Haha, same thing last time I rang them.

Orange: "I've made some changed this end and will ring you tomorrow to get an update from you as to whether your service has improved".

Me: "But calls aren't getting through so you won't be able to contact me".

Orange: "Ok, I'll call your land line"

A week later, and still no call back.

Next time I call, it will be to cancel my contract with Orange - which is a shame seeing as I've been with them for 11 years.

I rang customer service other day complained about lack of signal, text messages saying u have a missed call even though phone didnt ring, unlimited internet that i cant even use oh but still paying for  as no signal hardly ever and certainly no 3g...

Promised a call back from customer services within 3 days as guy other end was making a note of it and will improve it his end so my phone dont keep going onto voicemail??? WTH? anyway oh look NO call back thankx orange you have great customer service  so i ring them next day rather annoyed now had to go threw it all again and the guy then said i have no idea what the last agent did re ur voicecalls as i have to give you a number to ring to make it work (Ah yes yet another idiot) oh did i mention that number didnt work lol so orange admited to me that 75% of orange customers have complained about internet n signal not working! 75% and we just have to wait till they sort it out! Yea i dont think so orange have broken there contract with me so i will be cancelling them as soon as i have found an alternitive reliable network to go with have been told 02 are great ! also guy at orange said about remainder of contract being paid! well at this point i was laughing as u got no chance what so ever as you have broken the contract NOT me!!! also after call i got 3 texts messages from orange saying oh now u can share t mobile signal bla bla bla next message oh sorry not avaliable for you now, followed by now you can t mobile signal pmsl do orange actually know what they are doing i ask myself? ...my conclusion is NO ! so when i ring i will not be moved so to speak, also will my phone be blocked? can i use it on another network if i get it unblocked? i might use it as my spare phone? got a HTC Desire nice phones shame i cant actually use it a lot of the time, and any ideas on next phone? want it to be as good as or better then htc desire???

Wow it seems I am not alone in having problems with my HTC and Orange...

I've been with Orange for a couple of years now. Used the network with a couple of different Nokia handsets without a problem.

I then purchased a SIM free HTC Wildfire a couple of months ago, and up until a few weeks ago, everything on it had been running very smoothly. Then the following problems started occuring:-

1/ FriendStream went competely blank. Stopped working and would no longer complete status updates or show anything (just can't seem to get it working again).

2/ Random calls started going straight to voicemail without ringing, even though the handset was showing full signal.

3/ Major problems sending and receiving text messages, again even though my HTC Wildfire was displaying that I had full signal. Texts could not be sent out, and would take over 3 hours sometimes to be received! :(

I have signed up to the Orange T-Mobile network and that hasn't made a difference. Every time I send a text message I get the "!" symbol in my status bar saying that it could not be sent - even though there was full signal.

Then all of a sudden this evening - boom - phone is showing no signal, and if I try to manually search for a network to connect to, nothing comes up. Even selecting the automatic option doesn't work. So I've put my Orange SIM in an ancient Nokia 8210 and guess what? Full signal and I can send and receive texts perfectly. So is this a problem with my HTC Wildfire, or with the Orange Network?!?!:(

I set up the orange/t-mobile signal share a few weeks ago and it has been fab. iv noticed the roaming 'R' and 'orange t-mobile' network displayed. But since i fully upgraded to 2.2 froyo i haven't had a very good signal with orange and have had NO shared signal from t-mobile.

I'm hoping this is a teething problem due to high numbers of people setting up the facility. But i am not a happy camper.

p.s. i haven't changed the settings from those recommended by orange. i.e. auto select network and roaming.
