Android 2.3 was recently confirmed for the Nexus One, so I have a question. Will the Droid Eris be getting 2.3? I really hope so, I hope that Google delivers to lower end devices. Make it look great on the high end ones that can handle it, but still amazing on the lower end devices, like the Droid Eris. I'd be willing to try out KaosGingerbread if I have to, because I know Verizon won't be prepping a 2.3 OTA update anytime soon. But, once the devs get a hold of 2.3 on their Nexus One's, then they'll likely release it to the community, and it'll spread. Maybe, we'll get a CM7 mod with Android 2.3 released on the Eris. I'm not asking for someone to port it. I'm asking whether the community will take the challenge of getting 2.3 on the Eris. We got 2.2, didn't we?

No, I am sorry to say that it will not. The eris will not be receiving anything after version 2.1

Your only hope would be to root an try a ROM if one becomes available. Judging by the over all perfromance of 2.2 roms on the eris, I don't think the little phone has the umpf to pull it off.

Actually, my phone runs just as fast, and perhaps faster, running Froyo ROMs than running Eclair ROMs.

I imagine that there will be developers who try to get Gingerbread running on the Eris, probably without Flash, but time will tell!

My Eris actually works the best it ever has since I rooted it and put Nonsensikal (Froyo) 10.8.1 on it. It it A LOT smoother than the OTA 2.1 update I got from Verizon/HTC.

I'll be interested to hear if anyone is going to attempt a custom Gingerbread ROM for Eris.

Cooked 2.2 roms cannot be compared to the official 2.1 rom. The cooked 2.1 rom I run smokes any of the 2.2 roms I have tried and the official 2.1.
