Hi,
My one year old son decided to throw my 2 month old desire down the toilet on saturday morning, I got it out within seconds and took the back off and the battery out straight away and it has a few drops of water under the battery but wasn't that wet. The two moisture pads still seem to be white but i don't know how much water got into the rest of the phone.
I read up online about how to dry them out and i hoovered it to try to suck any water out and also put it in rice in the airing cupboard saturday night until this morning (monday).
My question is do you think it is ok to try and turn it on now? It has been about 46 hours since it went in the toilet. I know that if i try to turn it on when it is still wet i could do more damage so i'm not sure how long to wait.
Thanks.

I might look into it, not sure what companies would cover water damage though. i suppose the fact that the moisture indicators are still white is a good sign. I will see if it works when i switch it on and if not look at getting insurance.
I just don't want to switch it on too soon in case it still has some water inside.

Can you get insurance and declare it in a week or so?

Isn't that fraud...?

same thing happened to my hero. and it survived, even though the indicators turned red. Sold it 6 months later still working fine. Insurance will do no good if it is working now but may still be worthwhile. If it ever does stop working. if there is any indication of water ingress HTC will probably reject your claim out of hand. so you may need to make a claim on your contents policy then.

I've got several phones wet. One got dropped in a (clean) toilet. And more than once I've dropped my phone in the water while fishing. Every time I've removed the battery and left them to dry on top of a towel on top of a radiator and they have been fine.
My recently pentioned off Sony Ericsson got damp in it after a very rainy day in a boat a few weeks ago. It wasn't working very well when I got off the boat but after drying out at home it was fine.
