Would actually love to know the answer to that as well, since I expect at some point soon to update through the official method.
On the other hand it seems to me that if we were to go Titanium route, one needs to debrand, root, (maybe they're done in the same step), install TI, then backup, then update the phone, and then debrand, root, then restore...

something doesn't sound right about that method to me.

sounds like alot of work. realistically if i write down my downloaded apps and backup my contacts to my sim and memory card then the worst thing that can happen is that i have to reinstall everything manually and configure it to how i had it. but id prefer to avoid that.

i downloaded mybackup pro from apktor and backed up everything on the phone to that. im guessing ill have to reinstall it when i update to 2.1. so from what i did last time, i used astro file manager to reinstall the apps i had downloaded through apktor so ill likely do that and reinstall mybackup pro through that and see if itll reinstall all the apps for me.

well, personally i use appbrain app (download from market) to Sync my apps (sync manually weekly)

backup and restore and/or phonebook contact export to sd card for contacts (run B&R weekly automatically)

when update is done just restore contacts, then download appbrain and click on "perform installs"

this then accesses the market for you and all you have to do is click on install

**note** sometimes have to run the sync 2 or 3 times to get ALL apps but certainly EASIEST way over TITANIUM

D'oh! Learned the hard way... I connected to SEUS to see if the update was present...it came back saying I was current but there was something to install. I installed... got all excited when I saw it take longer to boot and that I had a flashing messing indicator...then all bummed when I saw it just reflashed me with the R20 update and I've lost everything on my phone :(

I'm guessing I can re-root, re-install titanium backup and restore everything that way so that's what i'm trying. Also thank goodness for the online sync. Got all my contacts back in seconds. This is probably good because my camera app has been flaky in the past few days.

Just saw this posted on the Sony Ericsson blog site.

@Patrick, I just got off the phone with Rogers Tech Support. They say the update has not been released to them yet and have no idea when it will be released either. They did tell me that they will push a text notification once its available. Im guessing once they have it, they are going to first want to brand the update before we see it. Hopefully we’ll have it by the end of the week.

not disapointed at all... i'm happy with 1.6 anyway
IMPORTANT: As I’ve pointed out previously here on the blog the software upgrade will be done in a phased roll-out which means that different “kits” gets the update at different times. This to secure quality in all networks and countries. So don’t get paranoid if your phone isn’t updated in the very first days
it will come!

I'm happy with 1.6 as well except for 1 major flaw which has me wanting 2.1

Bluetooth connectivity to Car's audio system.
1.6 has a flaw where it connects, it gets paired, but the audio itself doesn't transfer over (this is both for music and especially voice calls)
This bug occurs on my car (2010 mazda 3) and many many other vehicles.

That's all I want 2.1 for... *sigh*
