11 months to NE2. Meantime I have an X and Incredible...should I upgrade?

I have a friend who works for Verizon Wireless. I had lamented a bit after getting my Droid last Jan/Feb that it sucked the Incredible, with double the clockspeed and RAM was dropping in a month or so. However this has been my most favorite cell ever to date.

My Droid still runs fairly well, however lately (maybe just since 2.2) it's been getting super laggy. I'm stock, unrooted. The only two things i use that may slow it down a tad are Launcher Home and Watchdog (to see app spikes, of which there are really few!) My friend has actually SENT me an Incredible AND a Droid X for free. I've been kinda beating myself up on if I should deactivate this Droid and move on to one of the other two devices.

My mental battle is whether i can deal with Moto(Ninja)Blur or the SenseUI. They both have their strengths and I've played around with both phones. I would lean towards the X, except carrying it around may prove a little difficult I would then give the Incredible to my Eris-toting gf. (She's getting frustrated with the slowness of that phone)

I love Stock Android like on my Droid, although it looks doubtful we'll ever see an incarnation like that again. (Even Nexus 2 if it happens will likely have bloat on it!) Any recommendations?

What I figure/What's running through my head

-Droid X is a BEAST. The keyboard is the most accurate I've used yet.
-Incredible is small/sleek and thin, decent camera
-Both are rootable, (even though I usually don't lean towards that) and should receive future updates for a considerable period.
-I originally got the Droid bc I wanted the keyboard. I hadn't had an all touchscreen device prior and I was worried to leave the physical keypad behind
-I no longer need a physical keyboard. Touchscreens are accurate enough now (even on my Droid) where I rarely rarely use it. (The most i ever really used keyboard for was Gem Miner Dig Deeper lol, and for moving the cursor for editing a misspelled word)
-My Moto Droid won't get any updates past 2.2 (right? that was the last one for that device I thought) so I'd miss out on any updates the next 10 months.

why not just activate them and use them for a little bit and see which one you like the best. you never know, you may hate the other two, decide to send them to me free of charge, and go back to using your OG droid.

in all honesty, the reason you see lagging is most likely because of the 256MB of memory the OG drid has. the newer phones have 512MB i believe and thus seem to be a lot faster. the newer phones will for sure get future updates to gingerbread and beyond. and the OG droid MIGHT get gingerbread but most likely it will only be available in a custom ROM and not an official OTA update. they all have their plusses and minuses, but if you have no need for a physical keyboard, either phone is a serious upgrade... Blur/sence and all.

p.s. i know its not much of a deal to you but the Inc and DX and have a custom rom with stock android i beleive.

I was considering that...now that I confirmed it's so easy to activate a new device and it doesn't cause ANY havoc with my New Every 2 or anything I may activate them both both a few days and play around.

Apparently there are stock roms for both, I never rooted my OG Droid so I may be willing to for one of these devices since they're technically not the one that's insured.

I completely agree too, bc it's not the CPU that's the bottleneck in my phone. The RAM limits me AND the internal storage. (512MB I think it was, I'm forever skirting on full even with all apps that can be copied to SD, on SD!)

Keep in mind that rooting only voids your WARRANTY, not the insurance. If it's broke, it's broke and Asurion kicks in with a replacement. A lot of Droid warranties expired on November 6th so that's a non-issue now. I'd say root away - you can always unroot.

Not always. My rooted Droid just stopped turning on on the 2nd. So I'm sending it back rooted cause there's no other choice. I'm just lucky it did happen 4 days before my warranty was up!
