Help Waking up the X from Sleep

Hi,

I am looking at buying the DX (wife will get my D1), but I read this somewhere:
Because the Droid X has physical buttons, pushing any of them will wake up the sleeping phone.

Is that true? if so, is there a way to disable that so only the power button will wake the phone?

My concern is if the phone was in my pocket I would not want to accidentally wake the phone. The D1 is nice in that the power button or sliding it will wake it.

While I have given thought to getting the D2, not sure I want another slide, and the fascinate while being nice, does not have the noise canceling microphone or 2.2 so it is not on par with the D2 or DX

Yep, it's not an end button - so even less of a chance of pushing it. DX buttons go: Menu, Home, Back, Search.

I will say, that disabling keyguard makes the phone SUPER easy to wake up by accident because the camera button is soft and easy to push. But it's not an issue since you can just turn on keyguard and be happy.

You can also do this........

Navigate to this file with root explorer and select 'open in text editor'
/system/usr/keylayout/cdma_shadow-keypad.kl
You will see a line that looks like this.....
Code: key 102 HOME WAKE
Remove the "WAKE" so it looks like this.
Code: key 102 HOME
(I did the volume up/down buttons also.)

Save it and replace the original file in /system/usr/keylayout/ and reboot.
Enjoy!

Put a case of some kind on and that will make it even more unlikely that you'll accidentally wake it up. And even if you do, if you don't swipe to unlock it, it just goes back to sleep in 10 seconds anyways.

Suggestion on a case?

I use a belt holster with the D1, would like to move away from the holster.

I have no case on the D1 since I have the Car dock and MM Dock for it

I've used the Body Glove one that Verizon sells and the Rocketfish one Best Buy sells. The Body Glove probably protects better because it's thicker, but it's thicker, and makes the phone a little bulkier than I like. It's also kind of too rubbery, and it's hard to take it out of your jeans front pocket without turning your pocket inside out. I'm really liking the Rocketfish case though. Much slimmer and lighter, but still a hard case, so should give some protection. And a nice smooth soft touch feel that slides in and out of pockets great.
