How Many Will be "FURIOUS" if Verizon doesn't get the equivilent?

In response to:
Verizon just got the greatest android phone to date as an exclusive, but that's not enough?

Someone Else's post just summed up the response a little better then I could!

Actually, that would be just like VZW; look at the big push they put into the launch of their BB Curve(which some other carriers had for almost a year), and the first BB Storm(which no one else wanted). I think the Droid is the first device they've had that wasn't on other carriers first, well, besides the Storm.

Thank you! I'm gonna post that in my "FURIOUS" thread. For all those people who say "Haven't you guys got enough!"

Again, (at least in my case) it has nothing to do with it being the 'greatest' android phone to date. Even so, thats a matter of opinion. I want a phone that fits me and my needs. When will people get off this Carrier vs Carrier battle-kick. Ive been tolerable for all this time but fanboys on all sides are beginning to annoy the hell out of me.

Round of APPLAUSE cause you nailed it.

FACT: Verizon has a very small selection of good "Smart phones" period.

I just want one that fits me and its not the droid!

Every carrier has a small selection of good smart phones.

T-Mobile has the myTouch 3G and the Moto CLIQ (very liberal use of the word "good")

Sprint has the Palm Pre, Moment and Hero

Verizon has the Eris and Droid

AT&T has the iPhone.

See I tried enjoying what was now last year with the Storm1. What happened...a year of disapointment! I won't let that happen again.

And this is how I got the Touch Pro. Now I hate it and it's crappy processor. Then I waited for the Touch Pro 2, I almost pulled the trigger on that but then I realized I didn't want to lock in with AT&T again, so I waited for Verizon to get the TP2. Then I heard about all the Android phones and still I waited longer...

Some of us don't want a slider phone that has a keyboard with tiny buttons you have to push with the corner of your nail. If the keyboard was better, I would be buying a Droid tomorrow. Some of us just want a Droid equivalent without the slider = Passion.

+1 I don't need or want a full physical keyboard. I need to be able to text with one hand and I need a great touchscreen to do that. End of story. Now, everyone is used to different things. However, for me...I need a screen, no physical keyboard. I actually told my brother that if we end up getting the Motorola Droid, I would seriously consider super gluing the sliding keyboard shut. haha Seriously, I suggested that.

To both of you: Get the Droid (or Droid Eris) and download ShapeWriter... problem solved. I am pretty good with the physical keyboard on the Droid, but since downloading ShapeWriter, I almost always use one hand. Comparing it to the default Android soft keyboard is like night and day.

Well there's one thing that everyone can agree on... the TP was a shit festival of a phone... god I hated that thing. FYI though, it wasn't the processor holding it back, it was bad drivers.

I'm just saying in general about how technology updates so fast and something will be better than the Passion after it releases. The iPhone lasted for many reasons: 3.5 inch capacitive screen.. To my knowledge there wasn't any phones in 2007 that had a Capacitive screen especially at 3.5 inches. Phones today three years later are just starting to catch up with the same screen technology and size. The iPhone also had an integrated multimedia player built with a pretty beefy processor for its time.

The Passion has all the new technology that will not be outdated for years. OLED is the best screen technology around and there will not be anything better for years. The Passion's screen is also 854x480 which is the best resolution for phone cause its high enough for good web browsing and viewing video but anything higher would be overkill cause our eyes would not be able to tell the difference. The passion also includes a 1ghs snapdragon processor. 1ghz!!!!! Need I say more. How many phone's can record high definition like two and is there something beyond high definition? No. The only thing you would be complaining about when new phones come out is gonna the form factor. Thats it.

Nothing will beat this phone for years.

Exactly! We all want a phone with, let's all say it together, LONGEVITY! A phone that is ahead of the times enough that two years down the road it will BARELY be outdated and still be a killer phone to have. Apple did it with the iPhone, surely Google and HTC can do it. Right? I mean, you'd think so.

I'm with Verizon because of the quality phone service. It's crazy. I can dial a number 1 time and talk to someone who is really far away for as long as I choose. Most AT&T subs can not say the same.

I will stay with them regardless of the phone selection but I will say that they better the passion or something better or I will write then a stern letter and stomp my foot.

I can understand op frustration. Verizon service, reception, customer service are all awesome...but all the great phones seems to be passing by. Look at nice Nokia phones, the iPhone, and now the great passion all passing by. VZW is great, but their management is making huge mistakes by wanting all control. Just my 2 cents.

Same here. I'm not leaving Verizon. But I'm not signing up for a data plan and contributing to their profit margin until they get the phone I want. And this would be a prime example of the phone I want. I'll use this damn razr for another 2 years if I have to wire it to a car battery to keep it running.

I still think this is most likely coming to Verizon. I mean, a phone they don't have to subsidize but can still charge a data plan on? Yeah, that's a much more profitable model than the droid. I don't see why they'd turn it down. Until I hear something rock solid, I refuse to believe they passed on the Nexus One.

Is this rock solid enough: HTC Nexus One blessed by the FCC (updated) -- Engadget

Unfortunately, I am now left hoping the Bravo is coming to Verizon. I would guess yes if it comes stateside since they wouldnt release two competing phones at the same time on the same spectrums. I don't need hard buttons like the bravo has though.

I still think an HD2 with Android may happen sometime.

Wait Its called the "HTC" Nexus One, not the "Google" Nexus one... That right there proves that its not the "Google phone" and nothing more than Tmo's version of the Passion...Right? I was looking at the FCC docs and it was put through totally by HTC. Thing didn't say "Google" st all.

Interesting. I'm not holding my breath though. Hoping for the best expecting a letdown hahaha. If I'm 'settling' for the droid when nothing solid is released regarding a CDMA version I think I'm still a winner... At least that's what my mommy tells me

I know T-Mobile is getting it. I still think Verizon is getting the CDMA version shortly afterward.

Its not coming to T-Mobile. It just supports it just like it supports AT@T. I also read somewhere that Verizon and Google have a partnership going on and Verizon is getting exclusive phones. Why would Google give this phone to T-Mobile and not Verizon and if so why Tmo first Verizon second?

It doesn't support AT&T's 3G bands, so no, it doesn't support AT&T, not fully. The phone will work only with T-Mobile here in the US. I don't know about all android phones coming to Verizon being exclusive. Some are. The Droid is. The Eris? Well, it's an exclusive design but it's basically the Hero. Don't know why the Passion wouldn't come to Verizon first. Maybe they're committed to promoting the Droid through the end of the year and don't want to introduce another high end Android phone until later in January. If Google is ready to go, and they intend to provide a phone available to more than just one carrier from the get go, T-Mobile might have jumped on board and said we're ready when you are. Just seems odd that Verizon would turn this down, though I wouldn't put it past them. Real tired of waiting, and REAL tired of Verizon being second fiddle. Not sure why they wouldn't want to bring a high-end non-qwerty option to their line-up. I just don't want the Droid, but I want the high-end features which precludes the Eris.

Except its not branded as a HTC phone. Yes its made by HTC. But it will not be sold as such.

I beg to disagree. The Passion will be obsolete almost when released, just like the Droid or any other device. Within a month of release there will be a bitchfest thread like this on some forum complaining about how behind the phone is and how they'll never buy from xxx provider if they don't release the new device. If you can buy it, it's obsolete! With phones/PDA's there used to be a 1-2 year period before replacement. Now HTC is releasing devices at ~8-10 month clip. Around the time a device is released to the public, its new and improved replacement is already announced by the tech blogs.

I disagree...You can't find a better processor or different screen technology than a snapdragon or an AMOLED screen. Not this year atleast. You can post your proof...you won't find any. Both those WILL be new for at least this year...maybe even 2 to three. There might be other things but it took 2 years for those 2 things to finally make it into a phone and there are no other processors knocking on the door now...soo it will be new for at least a year or 2. Other stuff might upgrade but to me those are the important things!

I totally agree. Technology doesnt advance at an even pace. Every once in a while they take leaps ahead. The 3.7" AMOLED screen is a huge leap ahead of the 3.2" LCD screen with crappy resolution on the Droid Eris. Just because someone releases a 3.8" AMOLED screen after the Passion doesnt mean I would want to jump ship. And there isnt anything right around the corner that will be much of an improvement on that current technology. Same witht the Snapdragon processor. The Snapdragon is a huge improvement over the Eris processor and there isnt a 2 Ghz a few months away. Sure maybe a device will be released that is clocked a tad bit faster, but the improvement will be minimal and wont have me wanting to throw away my passion.
