I am big with games so I have been wanting to get an overclocking app for the Evo, but all I could find on the Market are apps for the Droid X/2. Is CPUSet the only (or the best) overclocking app for the Evo and what is the max speed you can safely overclock it?

I have not rooted my phone, and just learned in order to even overclock it you need to do so. From what I have read on the forums, rooting the phone removes the warrenty. What I have not been able to find is how you back up the factory settings in order to "exploit" this if something happens to the phone in the future.

This talks about it a little, but I didn't find any specifics.

Another question I have is how much space do you actually save when it comes to rooting? Some people mainly root just gain complete control of the phone, others to increase/decrease speed and battery life, and some to save space getting rid of things like the Sprint NASCAR app. The Evo has 1G of internal memory, correct? Right now with the different apps I have installed I have 200-250mb free. I never checked what it was out of the box before installing anything, anyone have an answer there?

Last question I have is with the different operating systems available. As said in the above thread (link), there are pros and cons with each (Baked, Fresh, etc.). Can anyone tell me of some for each, or is there a thread you can point me to that already does? I could only find info on Cynogon or whatever it's called.

hrmmm...

i thank you for your opinion and welcome it.

I on the other hand have found it a useful tool for neat and new apps and wallpapers that I would have never seen before. It's nearing 4,000 replies so someone finds it useful lol :D

That there have been over 4,000 posts of people showing off their Evo screens does not make the thread worthy of utilitarian status. Just axe the sticky status, re-name the thread, "Show Us Your Phone Bling," and be done with it.

hahahahaha that is true. I know I personally have picked up about 20 apps that I previously would not have known about..some of which I still use, others I don't. I love pictures...and picked up links to several drop boxes etc with thousands of great wallpapers...most of which are sized to the phone properly so I think it is kind of nice.

Most of this occurred in the first month or two following launch of the phone...I do find that I go there less now...and it does appear to be more of a "hey look at me" thread now than it was back then.

It does void the warrenty IF sprint finds out about it. If you have to take it in for service then you can just simply unroot. [GUIDE] How to Unroot the EVO in 2 STEPS - xda-developers

Out of the box, you get around 300-400mbs for apps, music, pics...etc..etc. But it does come with a 8g micro sdcard.

This really depends on how your going to use your EVO. Sense based roms are more complete in everyday use. I recommend Mym's2.2 to start with. Very stable and user friendly. With the right Kernal, it can be overclocked to 1.19ghz. I use this rom as my everyday rom with Kings#11 Kernal.

ASOP roms like Cyanogen CM6.1 are used for performance in my opinion.
Very fast rom, but a bit unstable at times, and does not have 4g YET, which is the deal breaker for me.

Head over to XDA Developers Forum and read up on the different roms, kernals, themes, addons....etc...etc. HTC Supersonic: EVO 4G - xda-developers

Hope this helps
