Desire HD SOLD OUT everywhere?

Well, dont be so sad... I'm a proud owner of a Desire HD (which I pre-ordered on Amazon.co.uk back on the 11th of October) and I'm still waiting for it to be delivered. :D Since the Evo 4G was release in the US I have been following the "Desire HD saga" and dreamin about it, and I have to tell you that the wait is really killing me... But my patience has now improved so much due to this wait that I might as well convert myself to buddhism. :p

This is a very sought after phone at the moment, and there is a HUGE backlog of orders to be cleared. If you really want to own this phone what I would suggest is for you to place an order somewhere and then to be patient.

I ordered mine and Amazon and this morning at around 1pm I checked and the status was "In stock on the 15th November, order now"... When checking about 2h after the status had changed back to "Usually dispatched within 4 to 6 weeks".
What that would suggest is that someone cancelled their order with Amazon and there was place for someone to enter a order for the batch that they are expecting on the 15th November.
Maybe you can place an order with them and hope that someone else cancells, so that you can be taken up to that batch.

Also completely sold out on in Bristol and my hometown...

The bloke in Carphone warehouse told me there was a "stock issue". No shit.

He did say the whole company is getting 1600 between them sometime this week :/

Wonder if this is really unexpected demand or HTC not handing out enough stock to make the device look really sought after.

I`ll be cancelling my O2 contract tomorrow so will have 30 days to get the DHD but everywhere seems to be awaiting stock. I`m always reluctant to go instore as the deals are never as good as online. Doesnt seem to matter this time though as no one has them anyway.

I might just place an order with buymobilephones.net and just pester them with calls and emails every day.

someone over at xda said that HTC have another problem with obtaining parts, and manufacturing defects now, and that they won't be able to ship any until December :(

Well, I will consider most of what is being said over at xda as speculation rather than anything else.

The guy over at xda 1st says "There now are some sources that say that HTC has problems with getting some parts and that there are production errors. Because of this the delay is going to be until December".

Then he says "Well just was on the phone with the store I have the order. It will take at least three weeks in the Netherlands before the delivery is a bit better, but it could also take a lot longer. The most reasonable and explainable reason is that there are too many inconsistancies with the production and too many problems".

So, his 'some sources' is the store from where he ordered the phone?! Come on guys, let's be serious! I work for a big multi-national corporation supporting some of the biggest ISPs in the UK, I know very well how things work in such companies. Even if something was wrong at the production line over at HTC they would never release that information to the 'store guy'. I think they would probably first release a comunicate rather than calling the 'store guy' and telling him whatever.

All retailers are fighting for customers, specially at this time, so close to christmas. If one retailer says that they will deliver tomorrow then the other retailer obviously have to find excuses to keep their customers.

I read of people who cancelled with one retailer, took their order to someone else who was saying that delivers earlier just to receive an email a few minutes later informing of delays with the new retailer also. If you cancel your order with a retailer you will be loosing your place in the queue.

iPhone 4 also had delays when was first released... Remeber that?! And that phone was faulty! Or you guys will tell me that using a rubber band around that 'beauty' is now a technical resolution?!

The DHD is a phone that is not only being released ALLOVER Europe but also in Asia! This is a highly sought after device and unfortunately delays will definitely happen.

Not to rub it in or anything, but i'm loving mine, had it about a 3-4 weeks now. Let's just say it'll be worth the wait.

1st ordered with Amazon way back in Sept (ship 11 Oct), which got put back to mid-Nov. Ordered with Play as a backup, as they still said ship 19 Oct. That too got put back to mid-Nov, so went in-store to P4U the day it came out;

I have a massive Tesco in my town and they say the DHD is 'coming soon'. Could be a different story online though. Mobiles.co.uk got stock today and they are showing up as in stock. Ordered mine from Phones4U today via their webshop over the phone. Bloke told me they have a constant supply coming in but they are also being sold almost constantly... He said they have stock now and Ill have mine in 3 - 5 days.

You'll get the phones in 3 -5 days because it in stock. Thats what T mobile told me. In other words they aren't in stock and are hoping to get it to you in 3-5 days. Surley if it's in stock you will have it next day.
Perhaps it's just me being sinicle with these providers!
Jon
Hope you are one of the lucky ones

Really bad news... At least for me.
Just got this email from Amazon:

Hello,

We regret to inform you that the following items have been delayed as we are still awaiting stock from our suppliers :

"HTC Desire HD Sim Free Mobile Phone"
Estimated arrival date: December 17 2010

One of Amazon's aims is to provide a convenient and efficient service; in this case, we have fallen short. Please accept our sincere apologies.

Sincerely,

Customer Service Department

I feel like telling Amazon and HTC where to stick the phone up into!

I guess I will now be looking at other options, no way that I will wait another month. This is a good phone (no doubt about it), but there are so many good phones in the market our days.

Frustrating
