Chase banking application

I just emailed them early this morning (middle of the night) and received a message rather promptly.

"Thank you for contacting the Internet Service Center.

We appreciate the opportunity to provide the information
you need. Please know our willingness to help you.

In the effort to provide better service to our existing
customers, Chase's product and service development team is
currently working on a similar application of our iPhone
QuickDeposit for Android phones. Android Application is
available in mid November 2010.

Chase Android application will be available for download
and will have functionally consistent with Chase iPhone
application. Android app will have QuickDeposit
functionality and eligibility that will mirror iPhone
QuickDeposit."

Let's hope that "mid-November 2010" is correct. If so, that's a mere week or two away!

(I posted another post about it regardless of past threads with the same topic because they all seemed old.)

I have a couple accounts with them that I haven't used much and am in need of some new business accounts. I would have a great use for this feature as my business gets a lot of payment via check and my bank (USBank) is in the dark ages when it comes to technology but I've had accounts with them for about 20yrs now. If this happens rather quickly I will likely deposit in my existing personal accounts as well as open up some business accounts to use this application with.

Does anyone know if there's a charge to use this app (iPhone version obviously since it's already out) like per use or month fee or anything?

Nope no fee.

Give my banking information to a 3rd party? Pass.

You are still accessing bank files over a wireless network with the chase app.
Read the orange writing on the Market apps you install before you click OK. Keyboard apps even state that it can access your passwords and such.

Mint.com accessing my banking info doesn't concern me as much as me searching "Cadillac STS" and me getting 5 Cadillac ads on my GMail sidebar as soon as I open it...

If this is your reasoning then you understand VERY little about internet security. When I access via an app it's encrypted. When you access via a 3rd party it's an encrypted... all the way to that third party. Once it get so them it's information you've volunteered. Ask the thousands who were duped by a 3rd party Bank of America app last year what they think about volunteering their bank information to a third party now. Volunteering your personal and bank information to ANYONE other than your bank (and in most cases I wouldn't even volunteer it to my bank either) is a bad idea. Period.

Haven't had an issue in 10 years of volunteering my info. I guess shopping online is a bad idea too then.
How would you not volunteer personal info to your bank? They kinda need alot of info if you need a loan and such.
Funny how you don't want to volunteer info to your bank, or you would rather not, but you are excited about a Chase app, and you are using it for business on top of that. I understand your opinion on 3rd parties, but what you say on the bottom of this thread doesn't really reflect your sentiments on the first.
Thanks for telling me I know VERY little about something. For a person that is VERY concerned about volunteering information, obviously you know VERY little about information that is collected on every click on the web. Simply cruising the web is more hazardous then volunteering information to a 3rd party.

10yrs of giving your personal banking info to 3rd parties is luck, not security.

By giving my info to my bank what I meant was another popular con where you get spoof emails and phone calls claiming to be your bank putting a freeze on you assets if you don't verify you info.... then they have all your info. That's what I meant by that. Most people with reading comprehension got what was meant by that statement.

So now any 3rd party that seems legit is worthy of giving all of your banking info to? I'm sure nobody has even been scammed doing that. What are you going to tell me next that our government has our best interests in mind so we should surrender everything to them and them do as they wish? The fact that you are even defending giving all of your personal banking information to a 3rd party makesme want to go start some apps or websites for farming information because it's pretty clear there are still plenty of morons out there who will be easy picking. It's one thing for some people to be naive and genuinely not know through ignorance but for you to actually argue about it just proves you're not playing with a full deck.

'Simply cruising the web is more hazardous then volunteering information to a 3rd party' ??

I think this conversation is over now. You once again have proven you don't know the first thing you talk about.

I find it kind of interesting that no one who works in the chase IT/developer capacity who has an Android device has chimed in to any Android message board and made any official statement, or even told a family member or cousin or anything about an imminent release for this app. I find it exceptionally weird that almost every other major bank in the US has an app for both platforms (iphone and Android) even if it is bare bones, atleast they want us to know that they are aware of us. This situation with the delay has really piqued my interest. I mean if the iphone does have an exclusivity deal with Chase, why Chase? Is there some secret deal brokered with Steve Jobs to make this his primary financial institution? I mean Chase has always stayed on par for the course when it comes to technology(Internet banking, mobile alerts, etc). Now all of a sudden we see this lucrative market in the future of mobile banking and we completely ignore it for months. Not saying anything important. Just curious is all.

I emailed chase and got a response like 5 minutes:
My message:

Message Dear XXXXXXXXX,

Thank you for contacting Chase.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

In response to your inquiry, the release for Android

This new application will allow Android users to access
their Chase accounts, pay bills, transfer funds, send
wires, make deposits using Chase Quick Deposit and locate
Chase branches or ATMs using their phones. It's very
similar to the iPhone app; however, the following will not
be available in the Android application at this time:

-QuickPay Service
-View Debit/Credit Card rewards
-Receive push notifications

If you require further assistance, please e-mail us via
the Secure Message Center or contact Chase By Phone at
1-800-935-9935. Chase By Phone representatives are
available to assist you 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM, seven days a
week with automated account information available 24-hours
a day.

Thank you,
Julian Carlo Chua Paulino

This was my original message:

I have seen conflicting dates on the release of the
Android OS chase app, I have been a chase customer for
several years and I would definately get much use out of a
mobile application from Chase Bank. Is there a release
date as of this time?
Thank you for you time.....
XXXXXXXXX
